For ordinary rares on the Isle of Thunder, player reports suggest a rough wait of 20 to 60 minutes. That is an anecdotal estimate, not an official Blizzard timer or a guaranteed window; one player reported waiting 53 minutes for Goda. The current Mists of Pandaria Classic zone guide lists the island’s rares but does not give a respawn interval.
What the 20–60-minute estimate means
The range comes from a World of Warcraft forum post dated August 4, 2020. The player described ordinary Isle of Thunder rare spawns as taking 20 minutes to an hour and said they had waited 53 minutes for Goda. This is one player’s experience, not a measured spawn schedule. Read the player report.
It does not establish that every rare respawns within that window, that the timer starts exactly when a rare dies, or that a rare will appear while you are watching its location. Treat the estimate as a rough guide for deciding how long to wait, not a countdown.
Which Isle of Thunder spawns does this apply to?
The current Mists of Pandaria Classic zone guide lists 11 ordinary rares and Ra’sha, alongside a separate set of summonable rares. It does not publish respawn times for them. See the Isle of Thunder guide.

Ordinary rares
The 20–60-minute estimate is community-reported for the island’s ordinary rare-spawn category. It is not an official interval for each named creature.
Summonable rares
Summonable rares are a distinct category in the zone guide. The ordinary-rare estimate should not be assumed to describe their availability or the conditions needed to summon them.

Nalak
Nalak is the Isle of Thunder world boss, not an ordinary rare. Blizzard’s patch notes discuss Nalak as a world boss but do not state a respawn duration for ordinary island rares or provide a timer that can be applied to them. Read Blizzard’s 5.2 PTR notes.
Why Warbringer timers are not a useful comparison
Forum comments from 2014 describe Zandalari Warbringers across Pandaria as taking roughly 30 minutes to a little over an hour. Those are a different rare-spawn population in other locations, so their reported timing does not confirm the Isle of Thunder estimate. See the Warbringer discussion.

Practical takeaway while waiting
- Use 20–60 minutes as a rough, player-reported expectation for an ordinary Isle rare—not a guaranteed minimum or maximum.
- If you have waited a long time, the available evidence does not establish that a spawn is overdue; it may appear outside your observation window.
- Do not use Nalak or Zandalari Warbringer reports to infer an ordinary Isle rare’s timer.
The estimate is based on a 2020 player report, while the current Mists of Pandaria Classic guide identifies the island’s rare categories without publishing timers. The evidence does not establish whether the same timing applies across versions, realms, or population conditions.
