What can make your run shorter or longer?
- Optional missions and challenges: Sticking to the campaign is faster than taking on side content as it opens up.
- Stage efficiency: Clearing objectives quickly reduces time spent in missions.
- Retries and boss difficulty: Replaying difficult encounters adds time.
- Upgrading: Improving characters and weapons takes time up front, but can help make later battles quicker.
Does the estimate include post-game updates?
Not necessarily. Nintendo’s update notes document post-launch additions including challenges, quests, weapons, and battles, some of which are accessible after the main story. The cited support page covers updates released in November and December 2025, so a completionist target can depend on the game version and which available activities you include. How reliable are these playtime numbers?
TechRadar’s November 4, 2025 review offers one firsthand reference: its reviewer reported playing for around 30 hours and said a direct run through the main missions would take less. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a benchmark. TechRadar’s review
