A full CS:GO Competitive match can last up to 30 regulation rounds, but it ends sooner if one team reaches 16. That is the round limit, not a reliable estimate of minutes: actual elapsed time depends on how rounds play out, pauses and transitions, and whether the rules allow overtime.
What counts as a full CS:GO match?
For Classic Competitive, “full” means all 30 regulation rounds are played. Valve describes Competitive as a best-of-30 match, with the first team to win 16 rounds taking the match. Teams switch sides after 15 rounds. Valve’s Matchmaking FAQ says a match ends when one team wins 16 rounds or all 30 rounds have been played.
This answer is about Competitive, not every CS:GO mode. Valve’s CS:GO About page describes Wingman as best-of-16 and Casual as a drop-in, drop-out mode.
How many minutes does it take?
There is no reliable average duration in the cited sources, so a precise typical runtime cannot be given from them. Round count alone does not translate directly into minutes: a round can end before its clock expires, and a match also includes freeze and between-round phases, loading, pauses, and transitions.

One tournament-specific example helps show why the round timer is not a match-length estimate. The Telia Esports Series rules specify a 1 minute 55 second round clock and 15 seconds of freeze time. Those settings belong to that tournament ruleset; they do not establish a typical wall-clock duration for all CS:GO matches.
Can a CS:GO match go beyond 30 rounds?
That depends on the ruleset. Under the cited Telia Esports Series rules, a tie after regulation leads to overtime, which continues until a winner is decided. Do not assume this overtime setup applies to every matchmaking or tournament match; check the applicable rules if a tied result matters.

Is this the same as CS2?
No. The 30-round answer is for CS:GO Competitive. In its 2023 announcement, Valve said CS2 would use 24 regulation rounds and six-round overtime when tied. That later format should not be applied retroactively to CS:GO.
