One Minecraft in-game day lasts 20 minutes in real life. That is the length of the game’s day-and-night cycle, not a recommended play-session length. Minecraft itself has no official overall ending.

How long is one Minecraft day?

A complete in-game day-and-night cycle takes 20 minutes in real time, according to Minecraft Education lesson support material (Minecraft Education lesson support material). The figure describes the cycle inside the game; it does not say how long a person should play at once.

How long does Minecraft last overall?

There is no set total duration. Minecraft’s official overview describes it as a sandbox with no official end: “Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like!” Players can decide when they have reached their own goals, but the game does not impose one final stopping point (Minecraft official overview and FAQ).

What can you do during that time?

Minecraft’s official overview identifies Creative and Survival as standard modes. Those modes offer different ways to spend time in the game, but neither changes the basic distinction: one in-game day is a 20-minute cycle, while total playtime is up to the player.

Does a Minecraft world have a real-life length?

Not one universal length. Minecraft Education’s 2021 Design Guide uses one meter per block as an “immersion scale” convention and describes a player as approximately two meters tall. It also says a player can travel about 250 blocks in a minute. These are design-guide examples, not a measurement of every build or a way to calculate the total size of a Minecraft world (Minecraft: Education Edition Design Guide).
