What makes the completionist route longer?
Rebrushed is built as a 3D platformer in which paint and thinner are both traversal and problem-solving tools. The main path can be followed directly, but the game also places secrets, creative challenges and movement-based opportunities around its environments. Those additions explain why a player who simply advances the story can finish substantially sooner than someone who investigates every branch.
Paint and thinner experimentation
Paint and thinner are not merely cosmetic effects. They support different ways of interacting with the world, so players who test both solutions may spend more time than someone who chooses the first workable route. Trying alternate approaches can reveal optional spaces or rewards, but it also makes the same level take longer than a straight run.
Secrets and optional challenges
THQ Nordic describes Rebrushed as containing secrets and creative challenges in addition to its main objectives. The available evidence does not assign a separate measured duration to any one challenge, so there is no reliable “extra hours per activity” rule. The remake includes movement skills such as a dash, ground pound and sprinting. These abilities open up more ways to move through spaces and can make revisiting earlier areas worthwhile. A player focused on the critical route may use them only when required; a collector is more likely to use them to investigate ledges, side rooms and concealed paths.
Does Rebrushed have New Game Plus?
Community discussions indicate that the game has a New Game Plus mode or a similar second-run option. Players also discuss carrying collected items into a new playthrough. That is the strongest available indication, but it should not be treated as a fully documented feature specification.
What is confirmed by official pages?
The official THQ Nordic game description and Nintendo listings reviewed for Rebrushed explain the platforming, paint-and-thinner mechanics, secrets and movement abilities. They do not describe a New Game Plus mode, identify a menu path for starting one, or publish rules for what transfers between saves.

Player posts ask whether Rebrushed has “a new game plus type thing” and describe keeping collected items when beginning another run. These reports are useful evidence of how some players experienced the game, but they do not establish a universal carryover list. They may also reflect different versions, save states or interpretations of what counts as a collectible.

- Follow the current objective instead of clearing every nearby branch.
- Use paint or thinner to solve the immediate obstacle, then continue once the route is open.
- Record the locations of blocked or suspicious areas if you intend to revisit them later.
- Expect the shortest of the commonly reported completion paths, with the final time varying by experience and exploration habits.
Story plus side-content plan
- Investigate optional rooms and challenges encountered naturally along the route.
- Use dash, ground pound and sprinting when they reveal an obvious alternate path.
- Return to a nearby area when a newly available ability clearly opens a previously inaccessible section.
- Stop when the major side activities are complete rather than attempting to verify every hidden collectible.
Completionist plan
- Search each environment methodically instead of relying only on the objective marker.
- Test both paint and thinner solutions where the game permits more than one approach.
- Revisit earlier areas after gaining movement abilities, since a dash, ground pound or sprint may expose new routes.
- Keep a personal checklist of discovered and unresolved secrets so that backtracking is deliberate rather than random.
- Allow substantially more time than a story run; the completionist estimate is the broadest because it includes the most optional searching.
How to approach a second run when carryover is unclear
If you are starting a second playthrough specifically to test New Game Plus, make a manual record of your important collectibles before beginning. Compare that record with the new save after the opening section. This does not prove a universal rule, but it can show whether your version retained the items that matter to you.
Before starting
- Finish any one-time objective you do not want to repeat.
- Write down or capture the collectibles, upgrades and abilities currently available.
- Keep a separate completed save if the game allows multiple save slots, rather than overwriting your only finished file.
After starting New Game Plus
- Confirm that the game identifies the run as New Game Plus or otherwise indicates a carried-over state.
- Check your inventory, abilities and collectible totals after the opening sequence.
- Compare those values with your pre-run record.
- Do not assume that an item not visible immediately has been lost; some progress may become available only after the relevant system unlocks.
Because no official carryover table was found, this method is safer than planning an entire second run around an assumed list of retained items.

What the estimates mean for your purchase decision
Around ten hours of main-story content makes Rebrushed a relatively compact 3D platformer if you are interested primarily in seeing the campaign. The jump to the side-content estimate reflects a more exploratory visit, while the completionist figure is aimed at players who enjoy searching, revisiting and solving optional challenges.
New Game Plus may add value for players who want to repeat the campaign with progress carried forward, but the feature should not be the sole reason to buy until you can verify the behavior in your own version.
