There is no verified report in the available official updates confirming that Fallout 76 is down today, October 8, 2026, and no restoration estimate is posted. For the live answer, check Bethesda’s Server Status portal and its support updates. Bethesda’s general maintenance guidance says servers go offline for updates but does not give a standard downtime length.
How to check whether Fallout 76 is down

Open the Bethesda.net Server Status portal and look for Fallout 76’s current service state.

Check Bethesda Support updates for a notice about maintenance or an outage. Historical service alerts do not confirm today’s status.

Check your platform’s online-service status as well. A platform outage or a local connection problem can prevent login even when Bethesda’s game servers are available.

Why there is no reliable downtime estimate
Bethesda Support says, “During scheduled maintenance hours, the Fallout 76 servers will be offline for updates.” That is general guidance, not confirmation that maintenance is taking place today. The guidance gives no standard duration, and no verified official estimate for today is available. Maintenance can vary, so an end time should come from a current Bethesda notice rather than a typical-duration guess.

If the status portal reports service is available but you still cannot connect, the login error alone does not establish a game-wide outage. Follow Bethesda’s connection troubleshooting guidance for your platform, and check that platform’s network service and your local connection. Bethesda’s support guidance recommends troubleshooting the connection when its servers are up.
