Forza Horizon’s listed roster has 218 car models, according to a January 18, 2014 post by Forza Community Forums contributor ManteoMax. That total includes Unicorns, Barn Finds, and DLC add-ons; it is not a base-game-only count.
What does the 218-car count include?
The 218 figure comes from a community roster post that described itself as the full list and explicitly included Unicorns, Barn Finds, and DLC add-ons. The post is a historical community roster, not a current developer-maintained database. The Forza Community Forums have since retired, so the original post is not available as a live forum page.
The count refers to listed car models. The post does not explain whether every variation, livery, or special edition is counted as a distinct model, so 218 should not be read as a verified count of deduplicated unique vehicles.
Is 218 the base-game-only count?
No separate base-game-only total is given. Because the 218 figure includes DLC and special cars, it cannot establish how many cars came with the base game alone.

For historical context, a Forza community DLC discussion describes seven monthly car packs released from October 2012 through April 2013. That release history does not establish whether the packs can still be purchased or downloaded today.
Are AI cars included?
Not necessarily. The roster post cautions that AI may drive additional models unavailable to players, but it does not count those vehicles. So 218 is the roster’s player-car figure, not a complete count of every vehicle that might appear in the game.

Did every player have access to the same cars?
Not always. The roster contributor’s follow-up lists eight loyalty reward cars tied to Driver Level in a Forza Motorsport 3 or Forza Motorsport 4 save. It also says those cars could be obtained through the Autoshow or some events, so the loyalty requirement was one access route rather than the only one. Those rewards do not change the roster’s stated total.
