Alinea Analytics estimated that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold about 130,000 copies across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox on the day after its remaster launched on September 29, 2026. That is a third-party estimate of sales of the game—not an official count, a complete all-platform total or a tally of paid remaster upgrades.
What does the 130,000 figure measure?
Alinea Analytics reported the estimate in an October 1, 2026 article, describing the game as having sold “another 130K copies across those three platforms yesterday.” WN Hub’s report identifies the sales window as the day after the remaster release. Since the remaster launched September 29, the source’s relative timing points to the following day; the figure should not be described as September 29 launch-day sales.
Alinea called it the game’s highest daily sales since its first $3.99 Steam discount in summer 2024. The report said the game was then discounted to $24.99 across the three covered platforms. Those are launch-period details, not current prices. Alinea Analytics’ October 1 report is the source of the estimate.
Which platforms are included?
The estimate covers Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. Alinea did not publish a sales breakdown by platform, and WN Hub notes that the firm lacked data for other platforms. It is therefore not a confirmed total across every platform where the game is available.

Were these paid remaster upgrades?
No. The reported figure is an estimate of sales of The Witcher 3 around the remaster launch, not a count of existing owners paying to upgrade. The remaster launched September 29, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. WN Hub reported that owners of the original game received it at no additional cost, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. CD PROJEKT RED’s first-half 2026 earnings-call transcript also says existing owners would receive the remastered edition and both expansions for free.
People who did not already own the game could buy it during the launch-period promotion, while the free upgrade could bring existing players back without creating a new sale. The available figures do not establish how many of the estimated sales were caused by the remaster or the discount. In the earnings call, joint CEO Michał Nowakowski said the company expected both returning players and first-time buyers, but was not guiding to a specific remaster revenue figure. How does the estimate differ from the sales forecast?
The 130,000 figure is an estimated one-day result reported by Alinea Analytics. A separate number reported around launch was a forecast, not a measured result:
| Figure | What it refers to | Source and status |
|---|---|---|
| About 130,000 copies | One day of estimated sales across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox after the remaster launched | Alinea Analytics; third-party estimate reported October 1, 2026 |
| About 3 million copies | Forecast sales from September 29 through December 31, 2026 | Erste Securities Polska analyst Krzysztof Tkocz, reported by Bankier.pl/PAP Biznes; forecast, not a result |
| PLN 100–125 million | Forecast revenue for the same September 29–December 31 period | Erste Securities Polska analyst Krzysztof Tkocz, reported by Bankier.pl/PAP Biznes; forecast, not a result |
Tkocz’s forecast was reported on September 29. Its cited assumptions included a price increase from $40 to $50 and a 50% promotion at $25 at the time of his comment. These projections should not be added to or treated as confirmation of Alinea’s shorter-window estimate. Bankier.pl / PAP Biznes reported the analyst forecast.

What does the 2.4 million player figure mean?
Alinea also estimated about 2.4 million daily active users across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox on the day in question—more than ten times the game’s 2026 average, according to its report. The platform shares were Steam at 48.6%, PlayStation at 40.4% and Xbox at 11.0%. Daily active users measure player activity, not copies sold; this figure is neither a sales total nor a count of concurrent players.
