Spoiler-light answer: The Callisto Protocol has one main-story ending. If you include the Final Transmission DLC, the story continues in a post-ending chapter; it is not a second branching ending to the base campaign.
The distinction matters because the DLC takes place after the main game’s conclusion and adds a further chapter. The official sources describe that narrative sequence but do not publish a formal count of endings.

Base game: one main-story ending
The base campaign concludes with one fixed main-story ending. The official descriptions refer to the main game’s ending in the singular; they do not describe a choice-based system with multiple campaign endings.
What changes if you include Final Transmission?
Spoilers for the post-game story below.
Final Transmission continues after the base game’s ending. In a June 22, 2023 PlayStation Blog post, Krafton Senior Global Brand Manager D. A. Salisbury wrote: “Since the end of The Callisto Protocol’s main game, things have gone from bad to worse inside the penitentiary.” The post calls the DLC “the final chapter,” indicating its place in the narrative, not a separately published count of branching outcomes. PlayStation Blog: Final Transmission DLC launches June 27.
#1 Best Overall
- Horror Engineering - The Callisto Protocol is a next generation take on survival horror from the mind of Glen Schofield
- Uncover the Secrets of the united Jupiter Company - Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the year 2320
- Players will be forced to get up close and personal with their grotesque opponents, hacking off limbs, blasting off legs, and getting creative with whatever is at their disposal to survive
- Experience the Isolation of Jupiter’s Dead Moon - One of the most hostile, isolated environments in the universe
- Players must not only contend with the horrors of Black Iron Prison, but also the centuries-old secrets that plague Jupiter’s long-dead moon
The DLC’s story centers on retrieving Dr. Mahler’s research and transmitting it off-world. So, when counting the complete story, describe it as one base-game ending followed by an additional story chapter—not as two alternative endings. Base game vs. base game plus DLC
| What you count | Story content | Ending count |
|---|---|---|
| Base game only | The main campaign through its conclusion | One fixed main-story ending |
| Base game plus Final Transmission | The main campaign, followed by a post-ending chapter | One base-game ending, with the story continued in the DLC |
What you need to play Final Transmission
Final Transmission is additional content, not a standalone replacement for the campaign. The Xbox Store listing says the base game is required. PlayStation identifies PS4 and PS5 editions, while the Xbox listing identifies PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S support. Check the storefront for your platform and edition before purchasing.
