How many Sacred Shards should you expect to use?
CyberPost reported a 6% base Legendary chance per Sacred Shard in May 2025. At that rate, the mean waiting time is 1 ÷ 0.06, or about 16.7 shards. That is why the answer is often rounded to 16–17.
A mean is not a prediction for an individual account. Each pull can succeed or fail, so you might get a Legendary from your first shard or go past 17 without one. The 6% figure is secondary-source reporting; use the in-game Summoning Portal information panel to confirm the current displayed odds.
How does an x2 event change the odds?
Plarium Support lists the Sacred Shard Legendary chance during an x2 Summon Boost as 12%. At a constant 12% chance, the simple mean waiting time is about 8.3 pulls. This is a mathematical expectation from the listed event rate, not a guaranteed result, and it does not account for Mercy.

An x2 event boosts the overall chance of summoning a Legendary or Epic. An x10 event works differently: it increases the chance of a particular Champion conditional on summoning that rarity, but does not raise the overall Legendary or Epic chance. Check the Portal’s information panel and make sure the event is active before opening shards. Plarium Support: Summoning Events.
What Mercy changes—and what it does not tell you
Plarium says Mercy is specific to the shard type and rarity. After the relevant threshold, the chance increases with each consecutive shard of that type that fails to summon the rarity. A successful summon resets the counter for that rarity and shard type. The counter is not displayed in-game.

Plarium describes Mercy increases as additive, not multiplicative: “meaning an increase of 2% to 8% chance will take it to 10%.” The official Mercy page retrieved here does not state the Sacred Shard Legendary activation threshold, so it does not support a precise guaranteed pull count.
