That is a mobile storefront spending estimate—not the game’s total revenue across every platform or miHoYo’s net receipts after fees.
What the $3.7 billion figure measures
Sensor Tower’s September 2022 estimate covers worldwide player spending through Apple’s App Store and Google Play over Genshin Impact’s first two years. The report describes the amount as spending by players; it does not establish how much the publisher retained after platform fees, or combine revenue from PC, PlayStation, and mobile. Sensor Tower’s two-year analysis identifies Craig Chapple as its author.
How the two-year total compares
In Sensor Tower’s worldwide mobile-spending comparison for the period, Genshin Impact ranked third among all titles, behind Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile. In the report’s separate comparison of gacha-monetized mobile titles, it ranked first.

The overall-game and gacha-title figures are different comparison groups. These are historical rankings for the report’s launch-to-second-anniversary period, not current rankings. Sensor Tower’s report supplies the figures.

What the estimates say about each year
Sensor Tower estimated about $2 billion in App Store and Google Play spending during Genshin Impact’s first year. Its September 2022 report put the cumulative two-year total at $3.7 billion. Subtracting those rounded estimates suggests roughly $1.7 billion in the second year; that is an arithmetic inference, not a separately reported precise second-year total. Sensor Tower’s first-year report gives the earlier estimate.
An earlier Sensor Tower analysis said the game passed $3 billion by May 2022. It described the first billion as arriving 171 days after launch, the second billion 195 days later, and the third billion another 185 days after that. Those milestones provide context for the pace of spending, but they do not expand the storefront coverage of the two-year estimate. Sensor Tower’s milestone analysis reports those intervals.

What the China figure includes—and leaves out
Sensor Tower attributed $1.2 billion, about one-third of the reported worldwide total, to China via iOS alone during the first two years. Its report says it did not track spending through third-party Android stores in China, so that channel is absent from the China figure. The $1.2 billion should therefore not be read as a complete estimate of Chinese mobile spending.
