Electricity alone can be inexpensive: at a US benchmark rate of 18.56¢ per kWh, a mini PC averaging 10 W at the wall costs about $1.35 for 30 days; at 20 W, about $2.67; and at 30 W, about $4.01. The exact bill depends on your whole setup’s average power while streaming and your electricity tariff. These are calculated scenarios, not measurements of a Ryzen 7 mini PC broadcasting continuously.
Estimate the electricity cost
Use the average power draw of the entire setup measured at the wall—not the processor’s advertised TDP. The calculation covers electricity only; it excludes hardware purchase cost, internet service, cooling, replacement parts, and the cost of downtime.
- Energy for a 30-day month: average watts ÷ 1,000 × 24 × 30.
- Monthly electricity cost: monthly kWh × your electricity price per kWh.
- Annual electricity cost: average watts ÷ 1,000 × 8,760 × your price per kWh.
The table uses the US average residential rate of 18.56¢/kWh for March 2026, reported by Starry Hope in June 2026 from EIA Electric Power Monthly. It is a dated benchmark, not a current or universal tariff. Replace it with the marginal per-kWh rate on your own bill when possible. Monthly figures below use exactly 30 days; annual figures use 8,760 hours.

Small differences between a 30-day monthly figure and annual cost divided by 12 come from the time basis and rounding. To estimate your bill, use your own rate and a representative average wall reading rather than assuming one of these scenarios applies to your PC.

Why Ryzen 7 mini PC wattage varies
A “Ryzen 7 mini PC” is not a single power profile. The processor and graphics workload, encoding method, stream resolution and frame rate, effects, browser sources, playback, attached displays, background services, and firmware power settings can all affect draw. A short idle test or a demanding benchmark does not establish the average power during a 24/7 YouTube Live session.
What reviews of one Ryzen 7 model show
Notebookcheck’s 2024 review of the Beelink SER8 with a Ryzen 7 8845HS and integrated Radeon 780M reported about 7.13 W average idle with an external monitor during a short idle test. In separate, demanding tests, it reported 68.2 W average and 84.3 W maximum. ComputerBase reported roughly 11 W idle from the wall for its SER8 test configuration, around 35 W in a light single-core benchmark, and up to around 82 W in stronger application workloads. IdleWatt’s community database lists 11 W idle and 72 W load for the SER8.
Those readings differ by test, configuration, and method; none is a direct measurement of continuous YouTube streaming. They illustrate why it would be misleading to treat an idle or stress-test figure as the universal “streaming watts” for Ryzen 7 mini PCs. [Notebookcheck, 2024; ComputerBase; IdleWatt]
Measure your actual stream
- Connect the mini PC and the peripherals you intend to leave running to a plug-in watt meter. Include a display if it will remain on; a meter reading that excludes it will not represent the full setup.
- Run the stream with the intended resolution, frame rate, encoder, scene, and sources. Let the setup reach its normal operating pattern instead of relying on a momentary reading.
- Record the average wall draw over a representative period, then use the formulas above with your electricity rate. If the stream’s workload changes substantially by time of day, capture those periods too.
AMD’s power-efficiency calculator guidance likewise treats energy comparisons as dependent on the selected system, power preference, and usage hours; its US electricity-rate input is based on EIA data. A processor specification alone cannot determine the bill. [AMD power-efficiency calculator]
Streaming settings affect workload, not the bill formula
YouTube’s recommended ingest settings vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate. For H.264, YouTube lists 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps and 50 Mbps for 4K at 60 fps, and recommends RTMPS for ingest. For encoder setup, YouTube instructs creators to enter the Live server URL and stream key in their encoder. Use your account’s current Live Control Room settings, and keep the key private. YouTube also says archived streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be saved as one video. If comparing mini PCs, measure them under the same actual stream conditions: codec, resolution, frame rate, scene complexity, and attached equipment. Compare average wall watts alongside stability, dropped frames, fan noise, and thermals for always-on use. Keep purchase price and warranty separate from electricity cost; the cited readings are not a controlled head-to-head continuous-stream test.
