How Much Does a Cobblemon Server Cost in 2026?

By VGSources Team 9 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A Cobblemon server in 2026 costs anywhere from a few dollars per month to more than $30, depending mainly on allocated RAM, concurrent players, billing model and whether you need an always-on machine. Small private groups can stay near the budget end; larger communities and heavily modified worlds need more memory.

For most groups, choose the plan by player count and memory first, then compare CPU allocation, backups, location, support and renewal terms. The official Cobblemon pack is a Java/Fabric modpack, so compatibility matters as much as the headline price.

2026 Cobblemon server prices at a glance

The following are provider-published listings available in 2026. They are advertised prices, not standardized performance tests, and currencies, promotions and renewal terms can change.

Provider Advertised RAM Listed price Billing detail Provider guidance
Astroworld Hosting 4 GB Mini €6.95 per month 24-month term Its Cobblemon Official Modpack listing estimates 3 GB for up to three players.
Connect Hosting 8 GB $15.99 per month Monthly listing 6 GB is described as the minimum; 8 GB runs best.
Connect Hosting 12 GB $23.99 per month Monthly listing For larger groups or heavier add-ons.
Connect Hosting 16 GB $31.99 per month Monthly listing Extra headroom for larger communities and demanding worlds.
FadeHost 2 GB $3.50 per month Monthly listing Below the provider’s stated 4 GB friend-group guidance.
FadeHost 4 GB $5.50 per month Monthly listing Suggested for a small friend group.
FadeHost 6 GB $7.50 per month Monthly listing Suggested for a community.
FadeHost 8 GB $9.50 per month Monthly listing Suggested for a public server; a free seven-day 8 GB trial is advertised.
Crafty Servers 4 GB $2 per month Always-on plan The provider says the pack needs at least 4 GB.
Crafty Servers 6 GB $3 per month Always-on plan Budget step-up for more players or loaded chunks.
Crafty Servers 8 GB $4 per month Always-on plan More practical headroom for a regular group.
Crafty Servers 12 GB $6 per month Always-on plan For larger groups or add-on-heavy servers.
Crafty Servers 16 GB $8 per month Always-on plan High-memory tier at the listed rate.
Alpenglow Hosting 4 GB usage model About €1.56 per month Approximation for three three-hour evenings weekly, 39 hours monthly, with idle time free Servers sleep when nobody is online; 3 GB is the stated minimum, 4 GB is recommended for friends and 6 GB for larger groups.

Across these listings, the advertised always-on range is roughly $2 to $31.99 per month, with one euro-priced 4 GB plan and one usage-based example. The cheapest figure is not automatically the best value: a low-memory plan that constantly stalls or needs upgrading can cost more in time and migration work.

How much RAM does Cobblemon need?

RAM is the clearest price driver, but it is not the only performance resource. Cobblemon adds Pokémon entities, spawning logic, storage, block data and mod interactions to a Minecraft world. More players usually mean more loaded chunks and entities, while bases, farms, pastures and additional mods can increase both memory use and server tick load.

Three or four players

A lightly populated private world can fit in the 3–4 GB range. Astroworld Hosting estimates 3 GB for up to three players on its Cobblemon Official Modpack listing. FadeHost describes 4 GB as suitable for a friend group, and Alpenglow recommends 4 GB for friends. Crafty Servers says its pack needs at least 4 GB, so 4 GB is the safer starting point when the exact host environment is unknown.

Five to ten players

Six to eight GB is the practical range for five to ten concurrent players in many ordinary worlds. Connect Hosting calls 6 GB a realistic minimum and 8 GB the best-running allocation. A 6 GB plan can work when exploration and entity counts are moderate; 8 GB gives more room for simultaneous bases, chunk loading and future add-ons.

Public servers and heavy add-ons

Communities with regular peaks above ten players, large explored maps, many automated farms or substantial add-on packs should look at 12–16 GB. Memory alone cannot fix an underpowered CPU or excessive entity counts, but starting with more RAM reduces out-of-memory failures and gives administrators room to tune view distance and simulation settings.

What does a server for five players cost?

For five friends who play together regularly, a 6 GB plan is the sensible baseline and an 8 GB plan is the safer choice if the world will include large bases, frequent exploration or extra mods. In the listed examples, that means $3 for 6 GB or $4 for 8 GB on Crafty Servers, $7.50 or $9.50 on FadeHost, or $15.99 for 8 GB on Connect Hosting. The differences reflect each provider’s infrastructure and included service, not just the amount of RAM.

If the five players are rarely online at the same time, a 4 GB plan may be adequate, especially for a mostly vanilla Cobblemon pack and careful entity management. Do not treat the player count as a hard capacity guarantee: five players spread across distant biomes can load more chunks than ten players gathered in one base.

Is 4 GB enough for Cobblemon?

Four GB is enough for a small, controlled server, but it is not a universal recommendation. It suits a few friends using the official pack with moderate render and simulation distances, limited farms and no large collection of additional mods. It becomes risky when several players explore in different directions, many Pokémon or other entities remain loaded, or the server uses performance-heavy add-ons.

When a 4 GB server begins showing long pauses, crash logs mentioning Java heap exhaustion or repeated “can’t keep up” messages, first reduce loaded work: lower view and simulation distances, remove unnecessary entities, limit chunk-loading features and check add-on compatibility. If those changes do not stabilize the server, moving to 6 or 8 GB is more reliable than repeatedly restarting it.

Monthly hosting versus pay-as-you-go billing

Flat monthly plans

A monthly plan is predictable and usually the better value for a server that runs every day. Crafty Servers lists always-on tiers from 4 GB at $2 to 16 GB at $8. FadeHost lists 2 GB at $3.50, 4 GB at $5.50, 6 GB at $7.50 and 8 GB at $9.50. Connect Hosting lists 8 GB at $15.99, 12 GB at $23.99 and 16 GB at $31.99.

Check whether the displayed rate requires a long commitment. Astroworld Hosting’s 4 GB Mini price of €6.95 per month applies to a 24-month term, so it should not be compared directly with a month-to-month price without accounting for that obligation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Hourly or sleeping servers

Usage billing can win when a group plays only a few evenings each week. Alpenglow Hosting models 4 GB at one credit per GB-hour and says idle servers sleep at no cost. Its example is about €1.56 per month for three three-hour evenings per week, or 39 active hours per month. That estimate depends on the stated schedule and idle-sleep behavior; a server used daily can quickly become cheaper on a flat monthly plan.

Before choosing hourly billing, verify how waking the server works, how long startup takes, whether storage or backups remain charged while asleep and what happens if a player leaves the server running overnight.

Technical requirements you must budget for

Java Edition and the correct loader

The official pack described by the reviewed providers is for Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric and contains 73 mods, including 43 server-side mods. Players need Minecraft Java Edition and the same Cobblemon pack version. Bedrock clients cannot load this Java/Fabric modpack, so owning a Bedrock-only copy does not meet the requirement.

Java 21

Connect Hosting and FadeHost specify Java 21 for the current pack listing. A host that offers only an older Java runtime may fail during startup or produce incompatible-mod errors. Confirm the runtime selector in the control panel before uploading or importing the pack.

Pack installation

A Modrinth .mrpack file is a manifest, not a complete server folder. Connect Hosting explains that self-hosting requires an installer to fetch the server-side files referenced by that manifest. Managed hosts may provide a one-click installer; otherwise follow the host’s Fabric and Cobblemon import procedure rather than extracting the manifest as if it were a normal archive.

Managed host or self-hosting?

Managed hosting

  • Usually includes a control panel and one-click or guided installation.
  • May include scheduled backups, DDoS protection and off-server storage, depending on the plan.
  • Runs continuously without leaving your home computer powered on.
  • Adds a recurring fee and makes you dependent on the provider’s hardware, region and support.

Self-hosting

  • Avoids the hosting subscription if you already own a suitable machine and reliable internet connection.
  • Requires Java 21, Fabric and the Cobblemon server files, EULA acceptance, port forwarding and firewall configuration.
  • You are responsible for uptime, security updates, backups, DDoS exposure and troubleshooting.
  • Your upload bandwidth, power usage and home network may become the real costs.

Self-hosting is practical for a technically confident group that plays at predictable times. A managed plan is usually worth paying for when the server must remain available while the owner is offline or when other players should not depend on one person’s home network.

How to choose a plan without overpaying

  1. Count concurrent players, not the total whitelist. Size for the largest number online together, then leave headroom for exploration and entities.
  2. Select a RAM tier. Start around 4 GB for a few friends, 6–8 GB for five to ten players, and 12–16 GB for larger or heavily modified communities.
  3. Verify CPU allocation. RAM does not describe single-thread performance, which affects tick speed and chunk generation.
  4. Check storage and backups. Confirm disk type, backup frequency, retention, restore process and whether backups are stored away from the game server.
  5. Check the exact software version. Look for Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric, Java 21 and the current official pack rather than a generic “modded Minecraft” installer.
  6. Review billing terms. Separate monthly renewal prices from introductory promotions and long contracts such as a 24-month term.
  7. Choose a nearby region. A geographically close data center generally gives players lower latency, although it cannot compensate for an overloaded host node.
  8. Decide whether sleep mode fits your schedule. Idle shutdown helps occasional groups but is inconvenient for a server expected to be available at any time.

First-day setup checklist

  1. Choose a host and confirm its available Java version, Fabric support and Cobblemon pack version.
  2. Allocate the selected RAM tier; do not assign all physical memory on a self-hosted machine, because the operating system and backups also need room.
  3. Install the official pack through the host’s importer or the appropriate server installer.
  4. Accept the Minecraft EULA in the server configuration before starting the instance.
  5. Start the server once, wait for world generation to finish, then stop it cleanly before changing configuration files.
  6. Create a backup of the fresh world and configuration before inviting players.
  7. Have every player install Java Edition, Fabric-compatible client files and exactly the same pack version.
  8. Test joining from the same network and from an external connection, then record the address, port and recovery procedure for the group.

Common problems and when to upgrade

Players cannot connect

Check that everyone is using Java Edition, the identical pack version and the correct Fabric loader. For self-hosting, verify port forwarding, firewall rules and whether the internet service uses carrier-grade NAT. A managed host should provide the correct address and port in its panel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The server crashes during startup

Review the latest log for a missing dependency, wrong Java runtime or an incorrectly imported .mrpack. Java 21 and the server-side installer are important for the current 1.21.1 pack. Restore the last known-good backup after removing an incompatible add-on.

The world lags while players explore

Exploration generates new chunks and can load distant areas simultaneously. Lower view and simulation distances, avoid keeping unnecessary chunk loaders active, reduce excessive entities and inspect add-ons before adding RAM. If the server still cannot maintain its tick rate, move to a higher CPU tier or a larger plan rather than assuming memory is the only bottleneck.

Memory fills over time

Check for unusually high entity counts, large numbers of loaded chunks, Java heap errors and add-ons with known leaks. A 6–8 GB allocation is a reasonable next step from 4 GB for a growing friend group; 12–16 GB is more appropriate when the concurrent population and world activity are also increasing.

Bottom line for 2026

Budget about 4 GB for a few friends, 6–8 GB for five to ten regular players and 12–16 GB for a larger or add-on-heavy community. Listed hosted prices run from $2 per month for a 4 GB always-on tier to $31.99 for 16 GB, while an hourly sleeping model can cost about €1.56 per month for a limited schedule. Compare the complete service—CPU, backups, location, software support and billing commitment—not RAM alone, and verify the price immediately before ordering because provider listings are subject to change.
