How Much Does Coolify Cost in 2026? Self-Hosting, Cloud, and VPS Costs

Self-hosted Coolify has no license fee, but you pay for infrastructure and operations. Coolify Cloud starts at $5/month for two connected servers, with $3 per additional server, while workload server costs remain separate.

Coolify itself can cost $0 in license fees when you self-host it, but running Coolify is never completely free: you still pay for a server, storage, bandwidth, backups, and your own operating time. Coolify Cloud starts at $5 per month for two connected servers, then costs $3 per month for each additional connected server. In either model, your applications and databases need workload servers that you provide and pay for.

The short answer: free software, paid infrastructure

Coolify has two fundamentally different cost models. With self-hosting, the software license is free forever. You install the Coolify instance on infrastructure you control, such as a virtual private server (VPS), dedicated server, virtual machine, or compatible Linux device. You then pay the infrastructure bill and operate the system yourself.

With Coolify Cloud, the subscription pays for a managed Coolify control plane. The published price available in 2026 is $5 per month for up to two connected servers, plus $3 per month for every additional connected server. Cloud does not include the servers that run your applications or databases. Those servers remain your responsibility and continue to generate their own provider, storage, bandwidth, and backup charges.

That distinction answers the most common misunderstanding: “Cloud” removes much of the work of maintaining Coolify itself, not the cost of running workloads.

What you pay for when self-hosting

Self-hosting means you run the Coolify instance on infrastructure you control. There is no Coolify license invoice, but there are several other cost categories to budget.

Server capacity

Your first recurring expense is the machine running Coolify and your workloads. A VPS is usually the simplest starting point, but Coolify also supports dedicated servers, virtual machines, Raspberry Pi hardware, and other supported Linux devices. The provider’s region, billing period, CPU type, memory, disk type, traffic allowance, and backup policy all affect the final bill.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Storage and Docker data

Disk space is consumed by the operating system, Docker images, build caches, persistent volumes, databases, logs, and backups. A server that appears large enough at installation can fill quickly after several deployments. Budget headroom rather than sizing the disk to the minimum number shown in documentation.

Bandwidth and egress

Public traffic, container-image pulls, database replication, and backup transfers may count toward a provider’s bandwidth or outbound-data limits. The amount and price depend on the provider and location. There is no universal Coolify bandwidth total that applies to every VPS.

Backups

Backups may be an add-on from your VPS provider or a service you arrange separately. A production budget should account for backup storage, transfer charges, retention, and a way to restore the data, not merely the cost of the primary disk.

Operations time

Self-hosting transfers control-plane maintenance to you. You are responsible for installation, updates, monitoring, firewall rules, SSH access, storage management, backups, and workload operations. That labor has an opportunity cost even when the software license is free.

Coolify Cloud pricing in 2026

The published Coolify Cloud price is a $5-per-month base subscription covering up to two connected servers. Each server beyond those two adds $3 per month. This is the platform fee only; it does not pay for the connected machines.

Connected servers Coolify Cloud platform fee What remains separate
Up to 2 $5 per month All server, storage, bandwidth, backup, and workload costs
3 $8 per month ($5 + one $3 additional-server charge) All server, storage, bandwidth, backup, and workload costs
4 $11 per month ($5 + two $3 additional-server charges) All server, storage, bandwidth, backup, and workload costs
Each additional server Add $3 per month The server’s own infrastructure bill remains separate

These figures are the published prices accessed on October 14, 2026. Pricing, included limits, and plan names can change, so verify the current Coolify pricing page before subscribing.

Self-hosted minimum requirements versus practical sizing

Coolify’s documented self-hosted minimum is 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 10 GB of free disk space. Those numbers describe a baseline for running the platform; they do not guarantee comfortable capacity for your applications, builds, databases, or backups.

Coolify notes that a 1-core, 1-GB server may work when minimizing cost is the priority, but does not recommend that configuration. Builds and concurrent services can exhaust such a machine quickly, leaving no room for Docker images, volumes, logs, or recovery operations.

DigitalOcean’s official Coolify 1-Click guidance lists 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 30 GB of storage for a Coolify-only minimum. Its production examples recommend 4 GB of RAM for one to three small applications, 8 GB for five to ten applications plus databases, and 16 GB or more for ten or more applications or services. These are planning examples, not guarantees: actual requirements depend on language runtimes, build processes, database size, traffic, and concurrency.

Use case Documented capacity guidance Important qualification
Self-hosted baseline 2 cores, 2 GB RAM, 10 GB free disk Coolify documentation minimum; workload headroom is not included
Coolify-only 1-Click minimum 2 cores, 2 GB RAM, 30 GB storage DigitalOcean guidance for that deployment method
1–3 small production apps 4 GB RAM DigitalOcean example; application profiles vary
5–10 apps plus databases 8 GB RAM DigitalOcean example; database and build load can require more
10+ apps or services 16 GB RAM or more DigitalOcean example; measure and scale for the actual workload

How to estimate your real monthly cost

Use the following process before choosing a plan. It prevents the common mistake of comparing a $0 license with a provider invoice that contains several unrelated line items.

  1. Count the servers. Decide whether Coolify, your applications, and your databases will share one machine or be split across multiple connected servers. The count matters for Cloud’s $3-per-additional-server charge and for every provider bill.
  2. Set a workload profile. List the number of applications, expected traffic, build frequency, database engines, persistent volumes, and background workers. Include staging environments if they run continuously.
  3. Choose a capacity target. Start from the documented 2-core/2-GB/10-GB baseline, then add memory, CPU, and storage for the workload. Use the 4-GB, 8-GB, and 16-GB production examples as directional checkpoints rather than hard limits.
  4. Price the machine in your region. Obtain a provider quote for the selected CPU, RAM, disk, region, and billing period. Provider pricing is not stated universally because these variables differ.
  5. Add storage and backups. Include extra volumes, snapshots, off-site copies, retention, and restore testing. A backup that cannot be restored is not a complete disaster-recovery plan.
  6. Check traffic terms. Record included bandwidth, outbound-data rates, and any regional differences. High-traffic applications can make egress more important than the base VPS fee.
  7. Add the platform fee if using Cloud. Self-hosting adds no Coolify license fee. Cloud adds $5 per month for up to two connected servers and $3 per month for each server beyond two.
  8. Value operating time. Estimate the hours required for patching, monitoring, incident response, and backup management. Cloud can be worthwhile even when its dollar fee is small if it removes control-plane maintenance you do not want to perform.

Where Coolify can run

VPS

A VPS is the usual choice for an always-on deployment because it provides a predictable Linux environment without buying physical hardware. Select a region close to users or dependent services, and verify storage performance and backup options in addition to CPU and RAM.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Dedicated server or virtual machine

A dedicated server provides more isolated hardware and can make sense for sustained, resource-heavy workloads. A virtual machine in an existing infrastructure environment can be convenient when you already operate a private cloud or data center. In both cases, you still own patching, security, capacity planning, and recovery unless another service explicitly manages those tasks.

Raspberry Pi 5

A Raspberry Pi 5 is a legitimate low-cost physical option for small or experimental deployments because 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS is supported. The purchase price is only part of the calculation: you also need reliable storage, power, networking, cooling where appropriate, and enough capacity for the applications. Residential connectivity, dynamic IP addresses, and power interruptions can make it less suitable for public production services than a datacenter VPS.

Provider provisioning

Coolify’s provisioning workflow supports accounts from several providers, including Hetzner, DigitalOcean, and Vultr. DigitalOcean also offers an official Coolify 1-Click application. Coolify’s guide recommends Hetzner for users who have not selected a provider. Those recommendations do not establish a universal price; compare the actual regional plan, storage, bandwidth, and backup terms you would buy.

Self-hosted versus Cloud: what changes and what does not

Cost or responsibility Self-hosted Coolify Coolify Cloud
Coolify platform fee $0 license fee $5/month for up to two servers, then $3/month per additional server
Workload servers You provide and pay for them You still provide and pay for them
Control-plane updates You install and maintain them Managed as part of the Cloud control plane
Application and database operations You operate them You operate them on your connected servers
Backups, firewall, SSH, monitoring You configure and maintain them Cloud does not remove the need to protect workload servers and data
Capacity and upgrade headroom Determined by the hardware or VPS you select Determined by the workload servers you select
Provider region, bandwidth, and storage charges Provider-specific Provider-specific and still payable by you

The practical choice is therefore about responsibility as much as price. Self-hosting minimizes the recurring software bill but gives you every maintenance task. Cloud adds a predictable platform charge in exchange for a managed Coolify control plane, while leaving workload administration with you.

Common budgeting mistakes

  • Calling self-hosting “free.” The license is free; the server, data, backups, and labor are not.
  • Buying the smallest server permanently. The 2-core, 2-GB baseline may be appropriate for a light start, but builds and databases need headroom.
  • Confusing storage with backup. A second volume on the same machine does not protect against machine loss. Price independent copies and test restoration.
  • Ignoring egress and regions. Provider quotes can differ substantially when traffic leaves the region or when a particular disk class is required.
  • Assuming Cloud includes compute. The Cloud subscription manages the control plane; your applications still run on servers you fund.
  • Using community anecdotes as a price list. Provider rates, promotions, regions, and workload assumptions differ. Request a quote for your own configuration.
  • Forgetting growth. Leave room for image layers, logs, database expansion, new services, and temporary build artifacts before the first upgrade is urgent.

Which model fits which deployment?

Choose self-hosting when

  • You are comfortable administering Linux, Docker, firewalls, updates, and backups.
  • You want no recurring Coolify license fee and can supply reliable infrastructure.
  • You need control over the server location, networking, or maintenance schedule.
  • You can account for the time required to monitor and recover the system.

Choose Coolify Cloud when

  • You want Coolify’s control plane managed instead of maintaining it yourself.
  • A $5 monthly base fee for up to two connected servers, plus $3 for each additional server, is acceptable.
  • You understand that application, database, storage, bandwidth, and backup costs remain yours.
  • You prefer a simpler operational boundary while retaining control of the workload machines.

Bottom line on Coolify cost

Self-hosted Coolify is free in licensing terms, not free to operate. Plan for the VPS or physical machine, storage, bandwidth, backups, security, maintenance, and workload capacity. The documented starting point is 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 10 GB of free disk, while practical production sizing rises with the number and type of applications.

Coolify Cloud costs $5 per month for two connected servers and $3 per month for each additional server at the prices published on October 14, 2026. It pays for a managed control plane; it does not replace the servers running your software. Because provider prices vary by geography, plan, storage, bandwidth, backups, and billing period, a precise monthly total requires a provider-specific quote built around your workload.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
