For a continuously running FFmpeg job on an Indian VPS, budget roughly ₹360–₹1,200 per month for entry-level or modest CPU-optimized plans, and ₹1,000–₹4,000 or more when you need additional CPU, memory, storage, or transfer. Those are examples of advertised provider prices checked on October 3, 2026—not a guaranteed cost or a promise that a particular plan can encode your video in real time. The key distinction is whether FFmpeg is relaying an already encoded stream or doing CPU-intensive encoding/transcoding.

What you might pay for an Indian VPS

The plans below show why the monthly headline price is only a starting point: providers bundle different CPU, RAM, storage, and transfer allowances. Prices and specifications were published by the providers and checked on October 3, 2026; they may change, and tax treatment or renewal rates are not consistently established across them.

Provider and plan Advertised monthly price Listed resources and allowance Important qualification
Vyom Cloud general-purpose ₹360 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB storage, 0.50 TB traffic, 100 Mbps Entry plan; not evidence it can continuously encode a particular workload.
Vyom Cloud general-purpose ₹560 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, 1 TB traffic Provider-published base price and specifications.
Vyom Cloud general-purpose ₹1,040 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, 2 TB traffic Provider-published base price and specifications.
Vyom Cloud CPU-optimized ₹1,200 4 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, 2 TB traffic Provider markets this plan family for video transcoding; that does not establish encoding speed for your command.
Vyom Cloud CPU-optimized ₹1,760 8 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB storage, 5 TB traffic Provider-published base price and specifications.
Endercloud Mumbai ₹999 3 vCore, 8 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe, 2 TB bandwidth Listed starting price.
Endercloud Mumbai ₹1,999 4 vCore, 16 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe, 3 TB bandwidth Next listed tier.
FasterHost India ₹519 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe, 5 TB bandwidth The provider page said these figures were last retrieved while its billing system was briefly unreachable; confirm checkout pricing.
FasterHost India ₹1,037 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe, 5 TB bandwidth Confirm the live price at checkout.
CloudPe ₹930 1 core, 4 GB RAM, 30 GB storage Provider advertises zero egress fees; confirm the chosen configuration and invoice.
Inservers streaming plan ₹880 2 vCore, 4 GB RAM Provider says this is for a single 1080p60 relay; this is vendor guidance, not independent performance testing.
Inservers streaming plan ₹1,800 Not stated Provider describes this price for multi-platform relay; resources are not stated here.
Inservers streaming plans ₹3,600 or higher Not stated Provider recommends this range for 4K or multiple simultaneous transcodes; vendor guidance, not independent testing.
Tikapur Host FFmpeg hosting From ₹200 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB NVMe Check exact service type, terms, renewal rate, and resource model before comparing it with a general VPS.
Tikapur Host FFmpeg hosting From ₹300 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 25 GB NVMe The provider also advertises unlimited bandwidth on its business plan; verify the applicable plan and fair-use terms.

These are not market-wide averages. They are distinct provider listings, and a low “from” price may not include the same resources, traffic terms, or billing conditions as another provider’s plan.

Relay, remux, and transcode have different CPU needs

Relay an already encoded stream

If FFmpeg passes an already encoded video stream through to YouTube without encoding it again, the job is primarily a network relay. Do not size it as though it were continuously encoding video. Inservers says its 2-vCore/4-GB ₹880 monthly plan is for one 1080p60 relay, but that is the provider’s recommendation, not an independently verified guarantee.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Remux or record

Remuxing changes the container without necessarily re-encoding the video, while recording adds disk growth and storage requirements. The exact CPU and disk load depend on the command and workload; the provider pages cited here do not benchmark particular FFmpeg jobs.

Encode or transcode in real time

Encoding or transcoding continuously is more CPU-intensive. Inservers recommends 4 vCores for real-time 1080p transcoding and 6 or more for 4K or multiple jobs. Treat those figures as vendor guidance only. Vyom Cloud lists a 4-vCPU/4-GB CPU-optimized plan at ₹1,200 per month and markets the family for video transcoding, but that does not prove it will meet your target frame rate, codec, or filter workload.

How to estimate the plan for your FFmpeg job

  1. Define what FFmpeg will do. Decide whether it will relay, remux, record, encode, or transcode. Include the number of simultaneous jobs and whether each must keep pace with real time.
  2. Write down the media settings. Note resolution, frame rate, codec, target bitrate, filters, audio processing, and destinations. A workload description such as “1080p” alone is not enough to establish CPU demand.
  3. Compare CPU allocation. Check vCPU or vCore count and whether the provider identifies CPU resources as shared, dedicated, or pinned. “CPU optimized” can help narrow options, but the label does not establish encoding speed.
  4. Calculate network transfer. Compare included monthly traffic, port speed, and overage or egress charges. Add up outbound bitrates and destinations for the stream; a fast port does not mean the monthly transfer allowance is unlimited.
  5. Check RAM and disk capacity. Allow for the operating system, buffers, temporary files, and local recordings. Long recordings can fill plans that list only tens of gigabytes of storage.
  6. Check the amount you will actually be billed. Confirm GST or other taxes, renewal price, setup charges, backups or snapshots, any IPv4 charge, and the terms behind “unlimited” traffic. The listed providers do not establish a common tax-inclusive price.
  7. Test the real command before committing long term. Use representative footage on a monthly or trial instance and watch sustained CPU use, encoding speed, dropped frames, disk growth, and bandwidth. There is no independent benchmark here that can guarantee a tier for an unspecified command.

Why monthly bandwidth and storage can change the bill

Monthly transfer allowances vary substantially among the listed plans, from 0.50 TB on a Vyom Cloud entry plan to 5 TB on the FasterHost examples. CloudPe advertises zero egress fees, while other listings state bandwidth or traffic allowances. Read each provider’s billing terms: an included allowance, a port-speed figure, and a claim of unlimited traffic describe different things.

For a job that records locally, estimate storage from the recording bitrate and duration, then leave room for the operating system, temporary files, and any retained copies. Storage and transfer are separate constraints: a plan can have enough disk but insufficient included outbound traffic, or the reverse.
