The Nintendo Switch 2’s current U.S. system MSRP is $499.99, effective September 1, 2026. That is $50 more than Nintendo’s U.S. launch MSRP of $449.99 in 2025. The price is a U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price—not a promise that every store charges the same amount.
What is the Nintendo Switch 2 price in the U.S. now?
Nintendo of America revised the Switch 2 system’s U.S. MSRP from $449.99 to $499.99 effective September 1, 2026. Nintendo attributed the revision to “various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term.” That is Nintendo’s stated rationale, not an independent analysis of the causes. Nintendo’s price revision notice was published May 7, 2026.

The $499.99 figure applies to the system-only U.S. MSRP. It does not establish prices in other countries or what a particular retailer currently charges. Nintendo said Latin American Switch 2 pricing would be shared later; the notice does not supply a complete country-by-country price list.
How the U.S. Switch 2 price changed
| Date | Price and status | What it applies to |
|---|---|---|
| April 2, 2025 | $449.99 announced | U.S. system launch MSRP; Nintendo announced a June 5, 2025 launch. |
| April 2, 2025 | $499.99 announced | U.S. launch bundle with Mario Kart World; this was a bundle price, not the system-only MSRP. |
| April 18, 2025 | Previously announced prices maintained | Nintendo confirmed the U.S. system and bundle prices when U.S. retail pre-orders began. |
| September 1, 2026 | $499.99 effective | Revised U.S. system-only MSRP. |
Nintendo’s April 2, 2025 announcement gives the launch prices and release date; its April 18, 2025 confirmation records that the announced U.S. prices remained in place as pre-orders opened. Those launch figures describe the 2025 offer, not a guarantee of current bundle pricing.

How to compare a console price with a bundle
A bundle’s total price and the system-only MSRP measure different things. Nintendo announced a $499.99 launch package that included Mario Kart World, but that historical amount should not be treated as today’s universal bundle price. In October 2026, GamesRadar reported newer U.S. bundles at $549.99 and $529.99, with different shelf timing. These are dated secondary deal reports, not Nintendo’s system MSRP; check the current retailer listing for price, stock, contents, and timing before comparing.
For a useful comparison, check the full package contents and compare the bundle’s total with the system-only price and the game’s standalone value at the time. A higher bundle price does not by itself show whether the offer is good value.

What Nintendo’s console price history can—and cannot—tell you
The verified comparison for Switch 2 is straightforward: its U.S. system launch MSRP was $449.99 in 2025, and its U.S. system MSRP became $499.99 in September 2026. The launch bundle was a separate package at $499.99. Keeping those categories distinct makes the change legible without mistaking a bundle for a console-only price.
Broader comparisons across Nintendo generations need more care. Launch packages may differ in included games or accessories, and an inflation-adjusted figure depends on the adjustment method and comparison date. Nintendo Life’s historical Nintendo console launch-price comparison provides context but flags those package and inflation caveats. Compare like with like—same market and year, similar package contents—and keep nominal prices separate from adjusted estimates. Price history is context, not evidence of what Nintendo will charge next.

Check accessory compatibility separately
If you are estimating the cost of moving to Switch 2, check each accessory rather than assuming an original Switch item works with the new system. Nintendo’s Switch 2 and Switch console/accessory differences reference is the appropriate compatibility starting point; compatibility is item-specific.
