The set consists of these three pre-Hardmode pieces. Add their costs—20 + 30 + 25—to confirm the 75-bar total. Since each Gold Bar takes four Gold Ore, the full set requires 300 Gold Ore. The Official Terraria Wiki’s Gold armor page lists these recipes for Desktop, Console, and Mobile.

Defense and alternate ore armor
A complete Gold armor set provides 16 defense, including its 3-defense set bonus. Platinum armor is the alternate ore counterpart; the cited source does not establish that one set is better overall.
Why older guides may give a different total
The Official Terraria Wiki’s version history says Desktop 1.4.1 reduced the individual Gold armor costs from 25/35/30 bars to 20/30/25, lowering the full-set total from 90 to 75 bars. The current page covers Desktop, Console, and Mobile, but directs players using Old-gen console or 3DS versions to a separate legacy page; check that version’s recipes rather than assuming the current total applies.
