The result is a snapshot—not your spending history, an official Valve valuation, or a permitted account resale price. Steam says accounts cannot be bought or sold.
What a Steam account value calculator measures
Calculators generally total the current prices of games associated with a Steam profile. SteamDB says it reads a game list through Steam’s Web API and adds current US Steam store prices from its price cache. Its stated library total covers games with a store price; it excludes free and delisted games. SteamDB also offers a separate CS2 inventory estimate based on marketplace data. These are third-party calculations, not valuations published by Valve. SteamDB’s calculator reported an update on July 3, 2026.

SteamCalculator likewise describes its result as approximate: it looks up a public profile and linked items, then fetches current prices. It explicitly says the displayed value does not represent what you spent.
Library value and inventory value are different
- Library estimate: A sum based on games and the prices the calculator can find. It is not a transaction ledger.
- Inventory estimate: A separate estimate for eligible items, when the calculator supports them. Its result depends on the items included and the market prices the tool uses.
How to get an estimate
- Choose a calculator with clear methods. Check whether it explains its pricing region, what it counts, and whether it values inventory separately. SteamDB says full library results require the profile and game details to be public. See SteamDB’s calculator notes.
- Enter the requested profile URL or Steam ID. Use the identifier format the calculator accepts. SteamCalculator says game details and inventory must be public for its calculation. Check SteamCalculator’s instructions.
- Read the assumptions shown with the result. Look for currency and region, whether prices are current or historical, which games are included, how unpriced or delisted titles are handled, and whether inventory is part of the total.
- Review privacy settings. Calculator access depends on public profile information. If you make details public to get an estimate, restore your preferred settings afterward if you do not want them public.
- Interpret the number as an estimate of associated content. It does not establish what you paid, what you could receive in cash, or what an account may be sold for.
Why the estimate can differ from what you spent
A current-price total is closer to a replacement-cost snapshot than a record of purchases. SteamDB notes that discounts, bundles, gifts, and subscriptions can mean actual spending was lower than the current full-price total. Its game count, playtime, and cost-per-hour figures offer context about library use; they are not cash valuations.

Prices also depend on region and can change. SteamDB’s stated library method uses US prices, so a result in that context may not match the prices in your Steam store region. Free games, delisted titles, and games without a usable price may not contribute to a calculator’s total; check the tool’s inclusion notes rather than assuming every item in the library has been priced.
How to compare calculators
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Games or inventory | A library total and an item-market estimate cover different content. Confirm whether inventory is included or calculated separately. |
| Region and currency | Store prices vary by region. SteamDB describes a US-price library method, so its result is not automatically a regional replacement-cost total. |
| Pricing basis | Find out whether the tool uses current, historical, or discounted prices. A current store-price sum does not reconstruct past purchases. |
| Unpriced titles | Check how free, delisted, or otherwise unpriced games are treated; they may be excluded from the total. |
| Privacy requirements | Confirm which profile details must be public and decide whether you are comfortable exposing them. |
| Extra metrics | Playtime or cost per hour can describe usage, but neither turns a library estimate into a sale price. |
Does a calculator tell you what your Steam account can sell for?
No. Steam Support states: “Steam accounts cannot be bought or sold. An account is for the personal use of its creator only.” It warns that an account found to have been sold may be permanently locked, and that buyers risk losing access and the value associated with the account, including rank, playtime, purchases, and inventory items. Steam also warns users not to buy or trade accounts and says someone who obtained an account from another person cannot be considered its owner. Steam Support: Account security and ownership guidance.
An inventory estimate is not guaranteed cash proceeds, either. Steam says item value is at least partly determined by scarcity, and trade bans can prevent use of the Steam Market. Its scam guidance says cash purchases or sales outside the Community Market are unsupported and warns that direct cash offers can be scams; for supported Steam trades, it advises keeping all value in the single trade window.
