One Roblox stud is about 28 centimeters (0.28 meters), or approximately 11.02 inches. That is Roblox’s documented standard scale, though individual experiences can use a different real-world interpretation if the creator applies it consistently.
What does a Roblox stud measure?
Roblox uses studs as its primary unit for length. Creators use them to describe positions, object dimensions, and movement; for example, linear velocity is measured in studs per second. Roblox’s unit guidance gives one stud as 28 centimeters, while its moving-objects tutorial describes that real-world equivalent as approximate.
The inch figure is a conversion of the documented 28-centimeter value: 28 cm is about 11.02 inches. Roblox’s standard figure is the useful answer for estimating scale, not a guarantee that every game’s objects correspond exactly to real-world measurements.
Is one stud always the same real-world size in every game?
No. Roblox recommends its standard units for predictable behavior across scenarios, including VR compatibility, but creators may define another real-world meaning for studs and Roblox Mass Units (RMUs). Roblox’s guidance is to use any chosen interpretation consistently throughout the experience.

That distinction matters when comparing games: a character, doorway, or vehicle that is a certain number of studs tall may not represent the same physical size in every creator’s project. The standard conversion is a reference scale; a creator-defined scale can differ.
How should creators use the 28 cm scale?
Keep project dimensions consistent
Roblox’s architectural modeling guidance calls 28 centimeters the closest real-world scale for a stud. A project’s grid size can be chosen to suit the work, but should remain consistent across the project and among collaborating artists.

Match external modeling and import units
Blender defaults to metric units, while Roblox Studio defaults to studs. Roblox recommends configuring unit settings so objects retain consistent measurements between the applications. The mesh importer supports source-unit choices including studs, meters, centimeters, millimeters, feet, and inches, and applies a scale conversion when importing.
For a project using Roblox’s standard interpretation, keep the modeling, Studio, physics, and import settings aligned with that scale. If the project uses a custom interpretation, establish it at the start and apply it consistently to dimensions, physics, and imported assets.
