There is no one storage requirement for every Call of Duty download: it depends on the exact game, platform, selected content, files already installed, and updates. For PC planning, official launch requirements range from 102 GB for Black Ops 6 to 149 GB for the full initial Modern Warfare III download. The latest named figure here is 116 GB of available SSD space for Black Ops 7 at launch. These are title-specific references, not guaranteed current install sizes.
Official PC storage requirements by game
Activision’s figures below specify available space at launch, not necessarily the amount a current installation will occupy after later updates. The games and content measured differ, so the numbers are not a direct like-for-like comparison.
| Game and source date | Published PC storage requirement | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Black Ops 7 — November 4, 2025 | 116 GB of available SSD space | Listed for minimum, recommended, and Competitive/Ultra specifications. The launch guidance says mandatory updates may require additional storage. Call of Duty PC specifications |
| Warzone — March 11, 2026 | 116 GB of available SSD space | Launch requirement; mandatory updates may require more space. Activision Support requirements |
| Black Ops 6 — July 2, 2025 | 102 GB of available SSD space | For Black Ops 6; additional storage is required for Warzone. Activision Support requirements |
| Modern Warfare III — January 17, 2024 | 149 GB of available SSD space | Full initial download. The same requirements page lists smaller options for COD HQ and Multiplayer, depending on whether COD HQ is already installed. Activision Support requirements |
What should you plan for?
If you mean Black Ops 7 on PC
Use 116 GB of available SSD space as the published launch reference, and leave additional room for mandatory updates. The official PC specifications say an SSD is required and warn that requirements may change. Check the game’s current launcher or store listing before installing.
If you mean another Call of Duty game
Check the exact title and the content you intend to install. The figures above span different games and installation scopes; for example, Modern Warfare III lists 149 GB for its full initial download, but its page also gives smaller COD HQ and Multiplayer options. Do not treat another title’s number as a reliable estimate for your game.

If you are downloading on PlayStation or Xbox
The official pages cited here do not establish current numeric storage requirements for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series. Look up the exact game in your console’s store and use its listed requirement; PC figures should not be assumed to match console downloads.
If Call of Duty files are already installed
The additional download can differ from a full initial installation when shared files are already present. For Modern Warfare III, Activision lists 79 GB for COD HQ and Multiplayer, or 34 GB when COD HQ is already installed. Those are the page’s stated installation options, not a universal Call of Duty download size.

Why older size estimates may not match
Storage requirements can change with updates and installation arrangements. The official launch guidance for Black Ops 7 and the requirements pages for Warzone, Black Ops 6, and Modern Warfare III all caution that more space may be needed or requirements may change. Their figures are useful planning references for the stated game and scope, not guarantees of the current footprint.
Installation setup can also change over time. Activision’s Black Ops 6 installation and setup page, dated July 5, 2026, says the game moved outside the Call of Duty experience as a standalone title across platforms. It also says older Black Ops 6 files installed within the Call of Duty experience would be automatically removed on July 7, 2026, to help free storage. That dated change helps explain why an older guide or an existing installation may not match a current download.
