GB and GiB are different units, and the figures describe different things: Valve’s 85 GB is the free space it says to have available, while SteamDB estimates depot download and on-disk totals. They are not contradictory or interchangeable. The SteamDB figures also vary with platform, language, and DLC selection; the filtered numbers above apply only to Windows, English, and no DLC.
How much room should you leave for CS2?
Use Valve’s 85 GB available-space requirement as the official planning figure, rather than treating SteamDB’s on-disk estimate as a universal local install measurement. SteamDB’s totals are based on depot data, and the selected depot filter may not represent every file or piece of content on an individual machine. Updates can also change the figures.
How to check the size on your own PC
For the actual footprint on a particular computer, check the game’s storage details in Steam or inspect its local installation. That gives you a machine-specific figure; the published depot totals are estimates, not measurements of your installation.
