No Law and Cyberpunk 2077 share a cyberpunk setting, but they are being presented as different kinds of open-world games. Neon Giant describes No Law as a first-person shooter built around dense districts and flexible approaches to encounters; Cyberpunk 2077 is a released action RPG built around exploring Night City, developing V, taking jobs and shaping a story. The crucial distinction is evidence: No Law is still in development, so its systems are announced intentions, not tested features.
What is the main difference between No Law and Cyberpunk 2077?
No Law puts tactical first-person combat and dense, varied spaces at the center of its announced design. Cyberpunk 2077 offers a broader role-playing framework in which combat, character development, jobs, relationships and choices sit within the open world of Night City. That is a comparison of stated priorities, not a verdict on which world is larger or which game plays better.

Neon Giant introduced No Law as a new IP in development, set in Port Desire. Its official reveal describes a city made of contrasting districts, stealth and loud combat, and enemies that react to sound, sightlines and pressure. The studio has not announced release details in that reveal. Xbox Wire’s announcement is a developer account of intended design, not an independent assessment of a finished game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is the released comparison point: CD PROJEKT RED describes it as an open-world action-adventure RPG following V, a mercenary in Night City, with cyberware upgrades and choices affecting the story and world. Its gameplay has also changed since launch; the major Update 2.0 reworked progression and cyberware and added vehicle combat, chases and a new police system.

How do the open worlds compare in scope and density?
The available comparison is about design emphasis, not acreage. In a PC Gamer interview, Neon Giant leads Arcade Berg and Tor Frick emphasized density over matching Cyberpunk 2077’s world size. Neither source supplies comparable map-area measurements, so there is no defensible numerical size ratio.
No Law: varied spaces within a dense city
The official reveal describes Port Desire as a city of distinct spatial types: vertically stacked slums, open thoroughfares and courtyards, and luxurious interiors with vents, service passages and hackable systems. The stated goal is to make districts and combat spaces feel different, with routes and systems that can support more than one approach. These are announced design goals; their quality and variety cannot yet be assessed in finished play.

Cyberpunk 2077: Night City as a setting for exploration and activity
CD PROJEKT RED’s launch description establishes the open-world RPG setting of Night City. The current official game page presents exploration, jobs, character customization, relationships and player choices as core parts of the experience. That gives readers a released-world baseline, but it does not provide a comparable map-area figure for judging the two cities by size.
How do combat and player approaches differ?
No Law: stealth or loud play in first person
Neon Giant announces No Law as a first-person shooter centered on encounters that can be approached stealthily or with open combat. The reveal describes manipulating patrols and security, while enemies respond to sound, sightlines and pressure. In the interview, Arcade Berg says, “We never tell you which route to take, we say that the player can never play the game wrong.” That is the studio’s stated approach to choice; it is not proof that every route or system will work as intended in the finished game.

Cyberpunk 2077: combat within an RPG toolkit
Cyberpunk 2077 combines action combat with character customization and progression. Its Update 2.0 announcement documents redesigned skill trees and perks and cyberware, plus vehicle combat, chases, refreshed enemy AI and a new police system. CD PROJEKT RED said Update 2.0 applied to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC owners. These details matter when comparing current gameplay: launch-era descriptions alone do not capture the post-update systems.
What is known about progression and role-playing?
The announced information suggests different emphases, but the evidence is not equally mature. Cyberpunk 2077 has released progression systems and official post-launch documentation; No Law’s progression details come from interview reporting about a game in development.

No Law: announced skills and specialties
PC Gamer reports that No Law will include experience points and skill trees, with flexible specialties such as lockpicking, hacking and weapon specialization. Treat these as details attributed to the developers in an interview, rather than a finalized feature list. The official reveal focuses more on the spaces and encounter approaches than on a complete progression specification.
Cyberpunk 2077: character builds and revised progression
The official Cyberpunk 2077 materials describe character customization and upgrades, while the Update 2.0 announcement explains that skill trees and perks were reworked alongside cyberware. The game therefore provides a concrete, playable role-playing system to compare against No Law’s announced skill-tree approach; the available details do not establish that the two games use equivalent progression structures.

How much do player choices affect the story?
Both games are described in terms of player agency, but the claims differ in status and specificity. CD PROJEKT RED says choices shape V’s story and the surrounding world in Cyberpunk 2077. PC Gamer reports that No Law’s developers are aiming for mission and world responses based on how players act, and that the game will have multiple endings. Those are reported intentions for an unreleased game, not confirmed outcomes demonstrated in play.
The distinction is useful: No Law’s stated choice design includes how a player handles missions, while Cyberpunk 2077 is an established RPG whose official descriptions connect choices to story and world. The sources do not support reducing either game’s narrative to a simple “linear versus branching” label.
What is still unknown about No Law?
Neon Giant’s reveal says release details will come later. The available announcements and interview do not establish a release date, confirmed final platform lineup, final world area, mission count or playtime. Nor is there an independent assessment of the promised stealth, enemy reactivity, progression or narrative systems. Until the game is released and evaluated, comparisons should stay with what its developers have announced.
Which game should you play now?
Cyberpunk 2077 is the available choice for anyone who wants to play a cyberpunk open-world RPG now; its official page lists an Ultimate Edition with gameplay updates and previously released content, including Phantom Liberty. Edition and storefront availability depend on region and platform. No Law should be treated as a game to follow rather than a current alternative to buy, since release details have not been provided in the official reveal.
