Byleth is about 20–21 when Fire Emblem: Three Houses begins. A character profile lists Byleth as 20, while a secondary overview says 21 when Byleth is offered the professor position; the available sources do not resolve the difference.
Why do sources give Byleth’s age as 20 or 21?
The figures come from different secondary sources, not an age statement from Nintendo. Triangle Attack’s Byleth character page lists the character as 20, gives a birth year of Imperial Year 1159, and says the birthday is chosen by the player. Wikipedia’s Byleth overview says Byleth is 21 when offered the professor role. The sources reviewed do not explain how those figures are reconciled, so “about 20–21 at the start” is more accurate than treating either number as definitive.

How old is Byleth after the time skip?
Nintendo describes the game’s second part as set five years after the first. That confirms the story’s time jump, but does not establish Byleth’s exact age afterward: simply adding five to either conflicting starting figure would turn an unresolved estimate into a certainty.
Nintendo’s game overview describes the first part with Byleth as an Officers Academy professor and says the second part is set five years later. It does not state Byleth’s age.
