Leon S. Kennedy is 49 in the 2026 story timeline of Resident Evil Requiem, according to a 2026 guide that attributes the age to director Kōshi Nakanishi. That is a reported timeline age—not a birthday-verified calculation: Capcom has not published a confirmed full birthdate.
Leon Kennedy’s age across the story timeline
Leon’s age depends on the year in the story, not the year a game came out. The reported ages below follow the games’ story chronology:
| Story appearance | Story year | Reported age |
|---|---|---|
| Resident Evil 2 | 1998 | 21 |
| Resident Evil 4 | 2004 | 27 |
| Resident Evil 6 | 2013 | 36 |
| Resident Evil Requiem | 2026 | 49 |
The age sequence and story-year placements are reported by How To Video Game’s September 25, 2026 age guide. Capcom’s official franchise timeline gives story landmarks including Operation Javier in 2002, Ashley Graham’s kidnapping in 2006, and the Tall Oaks incident in 2013. Resident Evil 6 released in 2012, but its story is set in 2013, so using the release year would make the age calculation misleading.
Is Leon’s birth year or birthday confirmed?
The reported ages—21 in 1998 and 49 in 2026—point to a birth year of 1977. That is an inference from the age and timeline figures, not a confirmed birth record. The guide says it could not verify a full birthdate through an official Capcom source, so July 31, a date often repeated on fan sites, should not be presented as canon.

What the director’s “close to 30 years” comment means
In a PlayStation Blog interview published January 26, 2026, Requiem director Kōshi Nakanishi said: “Now it’s been close to 30 years of Leon’s life that he’s been doing that.” He was referring to Leon fighting biohazards since Resident Evil 2. The comment conveys the length of Leon’s career; it does not independently specify his exact age.
Capcom’s 2025 Integrated Report frames Resident Evil Requiem as a 2026 installment. Combined with the reported age guide, that makes 49 the relevant answer for the game’s 2026 story period.
