Call of Duty’s official character descriptions reviewed here do not give Johnny “Soap” MacTavish a numeric age or birth date. The accurate answer is that his exact canonical age is not confirmed by those sources.
What Call of Duty officially says about Soap
Johnny “Soap” MacTavish is a Task Force 141 operator. Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare II launch overview describes him as a sniper and demolitions expert hand-selected for the team. It also calls him the youngest candidate to pass SAS selection in Royal Army history.
That distinction is relative: it says he was younger than other candidates who passed selection, but it does not state how old he was. The Task Force 141 announcement names Soap among the team without giving his age or date of birth. The Modern Warfare III editions announcement likewise describes him as the youngest candidate ever to pass SAS selection, but supplies no number.
Does Soap have the same age in every Modern Warfare game?
Soap appears in more than one Modern Warfare continuity, so an age claim needs to specify which version it refers to. The official material cited above identifies him in the reboot-era Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III context, but it does not assign him a specific age. It does not establish a numeric age for another continuity either.

Different ages found online may come from fan timelines or inferences. Without a primary source that explicitly states an age, those numbers should not be treated as confirmed canon or carried from one continuity to another.

Call of Duty’s description that Soap was the youngest candidate to pass SAS selection provides no age for him, no date for the selection, and no birth date. It therefore cannot be used to calculate an exact age. The official seasonal and Zombies lore articles reviewed also feature Soap without publishing his age: Modern Warfare III Season 1 details and Season 1 Reloaded details.

An exact answer would require an official biography, personnel file, or in-game source that gives a numeric age or birth date. The official descriptions cited here do not provide one.
