Check the country/region on your PlayStation account before buying: PlayStation says you can’t change it after the account is created. Your account region determines which Store you use, while disc-game DLC and voucher codes have their own region-matching requirements. Payment options and available content also vary by country.
How to check your PlayStation account region
On the web, sign in to Account Management, select Your Information, then edit Residential Address. The country/region appears at the bottom. In the PlayStation App, open Account Information and then Residential Address.

PlayStation Support states, “You can’t change your account’s country/region after your account has been created.” If the account was registered to the wrong region, do not assume that changing your address details will change the Store region.
What your account region means for game purchases
PlayStation Store catalogs and services differ by country/region. PlayStation Support puts it plainly: “Content and services available on PlayStation Store vary by country/region.” Check the Store associated with the account that will make the purchase to confirm a game or add-on is offered there and to see its local price.

PlayStation’s US terms say transactions are with the SIE regional company determined by the country or area of residence registered to the account. That is US-specific terms language; consult the terms and Store for your own country or region.
Does DLC work with a disc from another region?
For add-ons intended for a physical game, PlayStation says the add-on’s country/region must match the country/region of the disc game. A DLC purchase can therefore fail to work with a disc even when both the game and add-on are available to you.

Before buying, check the small print on the game box for its licensed region, or ask the retailer. Compare that region with the add-on’s region in the Store you plan to use. PlayStation’s cited guidance addresses games on disc; it should not be treated as a universal rule for every digital game.
Can you use a PlayStation voucher from another country?
No: PlayStation says voucher codes and the account’s country/region must match for activation. For a physical voucher, look for a country/region flag or other regional marking before you buy or redeem it. PlayStation’s US terms also specify that wallet prepaid cards must have a currency value from the same country designated for the account.

Buy a voucher intended for the account’s region, not simply one sold in a country where you happen to be shopping. PlayStation’s gift-card guidance says cards can fund the wallet for Store purchases, including games, add-ons, and subscriptions; the code still needs to match the account region.
Why won’t my card work with my PlayStation Store region?
A payment card registered in a different country from the Store region may not link. Available payment methods vary by country, so check the accepted methods listed for your local PlayStation Store rather than relying on a list from another market.

- Confirm that the account region and the Store you are using are the ones you intend to pay through.
- Check your local Store’s current list of eligible payment methods.
- If your card is from another country and will not link, try another locally available payment method or a wallet top-up code for the account’s region.
How wallet funds work—and what to check before adding them
PlayStation’s wallet guidance says wallet funds are applied first to a Store purchase. If the balance does not cover the full amount, another payment method can pay the remainder, if one is available.
PlayStation’s UAE wallet guidance says added funds cannot be refunded. That policy statement is specific to the cited market; check your local terms before topping up, and treat wallet funds as money for Store spending rather than a balance you can assume is refundable or transferable.

Will purchases follow you to another account?
PlayStation’s US terms say confirmed purchases are accessible through the account used to order them, subject to the applicable usage terms. Those terms also warn that closing an account may result in loss of access. Do not assume purchases can be transferred to a different account or that identical rules apply in every country; consult your local terms.
Quick Recap
Before you buy: a region check
- Check the country/region on the PlayStation account that will make the purchase.
- Open that account’s regional Store and confirm the game or add-on is available there.
- For DLC for a physical game, compare the disc’s licensed region on the packaging (or confirmed by the retailer) with the region of the add-on.
- Before buying or redeeming a voucher, confirm that its country/region matches the account.
- If a payment card will not link, check locally accepted methods and consider an eligible alternative or region-matched wallet top-up code.
- Review your local wallet and purchase terms before adding funds.
