In the specified Old-gen console and Nintendo 3DS legacy versions, the listed chance is 1-in-50 (2%). The rate is per Undead Miner, not a promise that the item will drop within a set number of kills.
Bone Pickaxe drop chance by version
| Terraria version scope | Listed chance per Undead Miner | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Current Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions | 1/20 (5%) | Official Terraria Wiki, Bone Pickaxe |
| Old-gen console and Nintendo 3DS legacy versions | 1/50 (2%) | Official Terraria Wiki, Legacy:Bone Pickaxe |
The Official Terraria Wiki records that Desktop version 1.4.1 raised the chance from 1/50 (2%) to 1/20 (5%). That history explains why older guides may show the lower rate; check the platform and version before applying it to your game.
What a 5% drop chance means
The 5% figure describes the chance on an individual eligible Undead Miner drop attempt. It does not mean one Bone Pickaxe is guaranteed every 20 kills, and the cited wiki pages do not describe a guaranteed-drop or pity mechanic. A run of kills can yield the item sooner or later than 20; the listed rate is a probability, not a fixed schedule.
What the Bone Pickaxe does
The Bone Pickaxe is a pre-Hardmode tool with 55% pickaxe power in current versions. The Official Terraria Wiki says it can mine blocks up to Demonite Ore, Crimtane Ore, and Obsidian. It also launches a lobbed bone projectile when it hits an enemy; that combat behavior is separate from its drop chance. See the Bone Pickaxe page for its item details.
