Relics in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen are unidentified spoils found while exploring Norgan. You take them to the Norgandian Settlement, pay Jiera in Rift Crystals for appraisal, and receive gear whose stats, bonuses, effects, and sometimes vocation skills can vary. Weapons linked to your Arisen’s vocation and your main Pawn’s vocation are more likely to appear, and buffs can narrow the result, but neither mechanic guarantees a particular weapon.
Capcom’s director Kento Kinoshita also describes item levels as generally following character progression and how deeply you have travelled into the map. A higher-level or rarer item can occasionally appear in an advanced area, so Relic drops are influenced by progression rather than locked to one rigid level per location. Exact drop percentages, appraisal fees, pity rules, and a complete affix table have not been published in the available public material.

What the Relic system is
The Relic system belongs to the paid Dark Arisen expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2. Relics are not normal shop purchases or immediately usable weapons. They enter your inventory as unidentified spoils. Their useful properties are hidden until you have Jiera appraise them at the Norgandian Settlement.

- Find unidentified spoils while exploring Norgan.
- Carry those spoils, including their weight, until you return to the settlement.
- Spend Rift Crystals with Jiera to identify each selected spoil.
- Inspect the revealed equipment and decide whether to equip, keep, or leave it in storage.
The current guide coverage describes possible results as variable stats, bonuses, special effects, and in some cases unique or upgraded vocation skills. That description establishes a variable appraisal system, not a definitive list of every possible bonus. Treat any complete affix chart, guaranteed roll or reroll recipe as unverified unless Capcom publishes it or the live game establishes it directly.

Where unidentified Relic spoils come from
Guide reporting identifies enemies, chests, exploration and buried finds discovered with Freki as sources of unidentified spoils in Norgan. This is a reported list of sources, not a developer-published exhaustive drop table. It does not establish that every enemy, chest or buried location has the same chance, nor does it provide percentages for individual Relic tiers.
Because the items remain unidentified until appraisal, you should treat them as inventory cargo rather than immediately usable equipment. The guide specifically says unidentified spoils consume inventory space and Pawn carry weight. A long expedition can therefore create a logistical choice: continue searching with heavy unidentified items, return to town, or use normal inventory-management options before your party becomes encumbered.
How to appraise a Relic at Jiera
- Search Norgan. Fight enemies, open chests, investigate the environment and use Freki to locate reported buried finds. Keep unidentified spoils that you are willing to carry back.
- Check carrying capacity. Unidentified spoils count toward inventory and Pawn weight before you know whether they are valuable. Move or discard other nonessential items according to your normal inventory routine if the party is becoming encumbered.
- Return to the Norgandian Settlement. Jiera is the appraisal contact named in the current guide coverage.
- Select a spoil and pay Rift Crystals. Appraisal consumes Rift Crystals. The exact fee for each tier has not been published in the reviewed material, so do not assume every item has the same price.
- Read the identified item. Check its weapon or armor properties, level, bonuses, effects and any vocation-skill information revealed by the appraisal.
- Make a storage decision. Equip it when its actual properties fit the character, retain it for another vocation or build, or leave it stored if the result is weaker than your current gear.
Rift Crystals are also used for other activities, including hiring Pawns. Appraising every unidentified spoil automatically can therefore consume a resource that has competing uses. A selective appraisal policy is more sensible than treating each pickup as a guaranteed upgrade.
How vocation weighting affects drops
Developer Kento Kinoshita explained that the game makes Relics associated with weapons for the player’s vocation and main Pawn’s vocation more likely to appear. His wording is important: the algorithm increases likelihood; it does not promise the matching weapon.
“For that reason, we’ve designed an algorithm that makes Relics associated with weapons corresponding to the player’s vocation and their main Pawn’s vocation more likely to appear.”

This creates a probability bias rather than a selectable loot table. A Fighter Arisen with a Fighter main Pawn should have a better chance of seeing Fighter-associated weapons than if those vocations were unrelated to the party, but the result can still be another weapon or a different Relic outcome.
What buffs can and cannot do
Kinoshita also said buffs can narrow the outcome. His example is using a buff to make a Fighter’s sword easier to obtain. “Narrow” should not be read as “guarantee”: the buff changes the distribution of possible results, while the underlying drop remains probabilistic.

Do not plan a farming route around an unverified claim that one buff guarantees a named weapon.
How progression and map depth influence item level
According to Kinoshita, Relic item levels are generally designed around your progression and how far you have travelled into the map. The system does not follow a strict rule in which only one item level can drop in a given area. In a more advanced area, defeating its enemies can sometimes produce an item one level higher or a rarer item.
That gives Relic hunting two separate influences:
- Progression and depth: these establish the general level range you should expect.
- Random variation: an occasional higher-level or rarer result can break the normal expectation.
This is not evidence that early-game farming reliably produces endgame equipment. A higher roll is possible, but the developer’s description still frames level as broadly tied to progression and location depth. If you are deciding whether to push deeper into Norgan, the defensible expectation is a better general level range, not a guaranteed top-tier drop.

Are Relic stats random?
The guide coverage describes appraised gear as having variable stats, bonuses and special effects, with some results potentially including unique or upgraded vocation skills. In that practical sense, two unidentified spoils need not reveal identical equipment.
However, the available public evidence does not establish:
- the complete set of possible bonuses or affixes;
- the number of bonus slots on each item;
- exact probabilities for each stat, effect or skill;
- whether every Relic tier has the same property pool;
- a player-controlled reroll or reset system;
- a pity counter or guaranteed result after repeated failures.
Do not use an unofficial color chart or an assumed tier system as if it were a Capcom specification. The guide says Capcom has not published a public color chart, drop table or pity system, and its detailed account was last updated September 1, before the October 9 expansion launch. Its broad loop is useful, but launch behavior and later patches can supersede pre-release details.
Relics versus ordinary loot and Pawn behavior
Relic appraisal is easy to confuse with ordinary Dragon’s Dogma 2 treasure interactions. They are different systems.

Should you appraise every spoil?
There is no published appraisal-price schedule in the reviewed material, so the right decision depends on your Rift Crystal reserve and what your party needs. A practical approach is to prioritize items when one of the following is true:
- the spoil was found in a deeper or more advanced part of Norgan;
- its likely weapon category matches the Arisen or main Pawn vocation;
- you have a buff active that narrows the desired outcome;
- your current equipment is due for an upgrade;
- you have enough Rift Crystals after reserving what you need for Pawn-related uses.
These priorities improve decision-making, but they do not change the underlying probabilities. A vocation match raises the chance of a relevant weapon; it does not make appraisal a guaranteed upgrade.

Compare the actual item, not its promise
Once Jiera identifies the spoil, compare its level and displayed properties with the equipment currently used by the intended vocation. A Relic with a striking bonus can still be a downgrade if its basic weapon or armor performance is lower, while a modest effect may be valuable for a specialized build.
Check more than the weapon name
The reported system can vary stats, bonuses, special effects and possibly vocation skills. Read every revealed field before deciding. Do not keep an item solely because it is rare or because its category matches your vocation.

Kinoshita specifically cautioned that good Relics provide an advantage while player skill remains important to combat. The system is intended to reward useful equipment, not to remove the need for positioning, timing, party composition or knowledge of enemy behavior.

What the public information still does not tell you
Several details remain unresolved and should be treated as unknown rather than filled with guesses:
- exact odds for each Relic weapon, rarity or bonus;
- precise Rift Crystal appraisal prices by item or tier;
- a guaranteed-vocation rule or pity threshold;
- a complete list of stat and affix combinations;
- confirmed reroll, save-reset or duplicate-protection mechanics;
- an exhaustive list of every Norgan enemy, chest or buried location that can produce a spoil.
Future Capcom patch notes or in-game documentation could clarify these systems. Until then, the strongest confirmed claims are the vocation weighting, buff-based narrowing and progression/map-depth influence described by Kinoshita. The variable-property details come from guide reporting and should be read as a description of observed or reported behavior rather than a complete technical specification.
Platforms and expansion package
Capcom announced Dark Arisen as a paid expansion for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement says the Switch 2 version packages the main game and the expansion together. Check the current regional store listing before purchase, because package contents and availability can vary by platform and territory.

Bottom line for Relic hunters
Explore Norgan for unidentified spoils, manage their carry weight, return to Jiera and spend Rift Crystals on the items worth identifying. Match the Arisen and main Pawn vocations, and use relevant buffs when you want to narrow the likely weapon category. Expect item levels to track progression and map depth in general, with occasional higher or rarer results. Treat every appraisal as a probability roll: the available evidence does not support guaranteed weapons, published percentages, a complete bonus list or fixed appraisal fees.
