The blessing improves your attack power and damage negation in the Realm of Shadow. It is an intended way to make your character hit harder and withstand more damage—not a requirement to reach one fixed level before any particular boss.
What Scadutree Blessings change
Shadow of the Erdtree has its own progression system in the Realm of Shadow. Scadutree Fragments raise your Scadutree Blessing level, which improves your character’s attack power and damage negation there. That gives you another lever besides base-game character level, weapons, armor, and tactics when an encounter is going badly.
Bandai Namco says the blessing’s effects are percentage-based on top of base values, and adjusted values appear in yellow on the Status screen. The publisher does not provide a universal blessing level for a specific boss, nor do its cited guides establish one level as mandatory. Bandai Namco’s character-strengthening guide recommends finding these items as part of Realm of Shadow progression.
How to use Scadutree Fragments
- Explore the Realm of Shadow and collect Scadutree Fragments.
- Rest at a Site of Grace and open the Shadow Realm Blessing menu.
- Apply the available fragments to raise your Scadutree Blessing level.
- Check the Status screen for the adjusted values, shown in yellow, then return to the encounter and see whether the extra damage and protection help.
Bandai Namco’s advice for players who get stuck is to explore for Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes. Treat that as a useful difficulty adjustment, not a rule that you must stop at every boss until you reach a prescribed blessing level. The publisher’s Realm of Shadow guide describes both item types as ways to strengthen your character there.

Scadutree Blessing or Revered Spirit Ash Blessing?
These are separate progression tracks, and they can be active together. Choose based on what needs help:

Neither track is established as universally better, and the official guides do not give a numerical comparison. If you need both personal durability and stronger Spirit Ash support, there is no need to treat the two options as mutually exclusive. PlayStation’s spoiler-free tips also identify the blessings as Realm of Shadow progression.
Where the blessings work—and where they do not
Scadutree Blessing and Revered Spirit Ash Blessing apply in the Realm of Shadow; they do not carry over as active bonuses in the Lands Between. They are not a general replacement for your base-game build progression. If you leave the expansion area, do not expect these special bonuses to make the base game easier.

Bandai Namco’s Calibration Update 1.12.2, dated June 24, 2024, revised the Scadutree Blessing curve: levels in the first half gained more attack and damage-negation effect, the second half became more gradual, and the final level received a slight increase. The cited patch notes do not publish exact percentages, so unofficial percentage tables should not be treated as publisher-confirmed values.
