Ubisoft brought back the game with its original DLC, and Limited Run Games announced physical PS4 and Nintendo Switch editions. The reason for the original delisting is less certain: an expired license was reported as a likely cause, but Ubisoft’s relaunch announcements do not confirm the exact explanation.
How did Scott Pilgrim vs The World Game escape digital extinction?
It came back through a new release rather than a restoration of the original storefront listing. Ubisoft announced the Complete Edition in 2020 and launched it digitally on January 14, 2021. Limited Run Games separately announced physical copies for PS4 and Switch that month. Together, the relaunch and physical editions gave the game a route back to players after its 2014 disappearance from digital sale.
What happened to the game?
| Year | What happened |
|---|---|
| 2010 | Ubisoft describes the original game as a 2D beat ’em up released in 2010. |
| 2014 | The game disappeared from Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, according to contemporaneous reporting and later reference material. The precise reason is not established by Ubisoft’s relaunch announcements. |
| 2020 | Ubisoft announced a Complete Edition, initially targeting the holiday period, and said it would include the original game and DLC. |
| January 14, 2021 | Ubisoft launched the digital Complete Edition on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna. |
| January 2021 | Limited Run Games announced physical PS4 and Switch editions in collaboration with Ubisoft and Universal Games and Digital Platforms. |
Why was the Scott Pilgrim game delisted?
The original was delisted in 2014; reports at the time pointed to an expired Ubisoft license as a likely reason, but Ubisoft’s release announcements do not spell out the exact cause. GameSpot characterized the expired-license explanation as likely, not confirmed. The available announcements do not identify a specific music, film, comic, or character right as the cause, so it would be too strong to say that one particular license definitively forced the removal.
What did the Complete Edition bring back?
Ubisoft described the return as the 2010 beat ’em up bundled with all original DLC. That includes Knives Chau and Wallace Wells as playable characters. The relaunch also retained the creative contributions named by Ubisoft: music by Anamanaguchi, pixel animation by Paul Robertson, and cutscenes by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Ubisoft said the game supports up to four players.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How can I play Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game now?
Look for the Complete Edition, not the delisted 2010 storefront release. Ubisoft’s January 2021 announcement listed PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna, and said the game was available through Ubisoft+ at launch. Ubisoft also said it could be played on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 through backwards compatibility. Those are launch-era platform statements, not confirmation that every storefront or subscription still offers the game today.

- Or challenge them in exciting mini-games like Dodgeball
- Together, vanquish the League of Ramona's Evil Exes
For a physical copy, the relevant announced editions were for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Limited Run Games’ announcement establishes that copies were planned, but not whether any are currently in stock or what resale listings are reliable. Check the current store or seller listing for platform, edition, seller, and availability before buying.
