The Battlefield 6 Assault Ladder is an Assault gadget for opening routes for your squad. Electronic Arts says its deployment angle determines whether it functions as a ladder or a ramp, helping players cross obstacles, reach higher ground, or approach opponents from an unexpected direction. EA also says it was not designed to provide access to unintended rooftops or out-of-bounds areas.
What the Assault Ladder does
EA introduced the gadget as a way for squads to reach areas that would otherwise be inaccessible. In its Open Beta and road-to-launch community update, the Battlefield Team explained that the Assault Ladder can function as either a ladder or a ramp, depending on its deployment angle.
EA’s stated uses are practical team movement: getting over obstacles, gaining height, and surprising opponents with a different approach. The intended value is not only getting one Assault player somewhere, but helping teammates follow a route that changes how the squad reaches a position.
How to use it with your squad
Think of the gadget as a way to create a traversal option when the route ahead is blocked or when a different approach could help your team. Its role fits EA’s broader description of Battlefield 6’s class system, in which class-specific gadgets and training support team play.

- Cross an obstacle: Use the ladder or ramp function to help teammates move over a barrier or other obstruction.
- Reach higher ground: A ladder route can help the squad approach an elevated position, where the map and placement allow it.
- Change the approach: A new route may let teammates approach an enemy-held position from an unexpected direction. It does not guarantee a successful flank.
EA’s New Player Guide frames Assault play in terms of tactical positioning and objective play. Using the ladder to support your squad’s movement is consistent with that guidance; the official description does not promise that every elevated surface can be reached.
Can the Assault Ladder reach rooftops?
Do not treat it as a way to access any rooftop or leave the playable map. In its August 21, 2025 Open Beta debrief, EA said rooftop and out-of-bounds gameplay seen during the beta was not intended for those maps, and explicitly stated that the Assault Ladder was not designed to access those areas.

That is a design boundary, not a complete surface-by-surface placement guide. EA’s statement does not list every valid ledge, wall, or map location, so it should not be read as saying that all high ground is either reachable or prohibited.
What later updates changed
EA’s Game Update 1.2.1.0 notes, dated February 13, 2026, document several ladder-related refinements and fixes:

- Improved third-person ladder animations, including hand and foot placement.
- Improved vault detection near overhangs while airborne.
- Prevented a backward jump down from vaulting a player back onto the same ladder.
- Fixed an issue that allowed the Assault Ladder to be placed on invisible collision near NATO HQ on Empire State.
These changes show that ladder animations, vault interactions, and placement bugs have been adjusted over time. They do not establish a complete set of placement rules or guarantee identical behavior at every location.

The cited official descriptions and update notes do not state the exact input sequence for deploying the gadget, its dimensions or placement distance, how many can be carried, whether or how it recharges, or which surfaces accept placement across each map. They also do not provide a map-by-map list of recommended placements. For those details, avoid relying on beta-era assumptions as a definitive account of the current implementation.
