Fortnite v34.10 brought back The Getaway on March 11, 2025. Teams could win by carrying a Jewel from one of four Crystal Llamas to one of three Getaway Vans—where the first three teams to arrive won—or by eliminating every rival team. The mode’s announced run ended April 1, 2025, Eastern Time; that date is historical, not evidence of a current return.
How The Getaway objective worked
The Getaway returned from Fortnite Chapter 1 with two ways to win: extract a Jewel at a van or eliminate all other teams. Epic’s March 11, 2025 announcement described the extraction race: “The first three teams to make their way to a van win!”
- Find and retrieve one of the four Crystal Llamas, each containing a Jewel.
- Carry the Jewel to one of the three Getaway Vans.
- Reach a van before the other teams competing for the first three extraction wins.
Eliminating all opposing teams was an alternative victory condition, so teams did not have to extract to win.
What carrying a Jewel changed
The Jewel made its carrier easier to track and less mobile, but offered a defensive benefit. Epic said carrying one slowed the player and revealed their location on opponents’ maps, while restoring Health and Shield over time.

- Risk: The slower carrier could be easier for opponents to pursue, and their map position was exposed.
- Benefit: Health and Shield regenerated over time while the Jewel was carried.
That trade-off made the carrier a conspicuous objective: the team had to protect its progress toward a van while opponents could see where to intercept.
Teams, modes and Ranked rules
Epic listed The Getaway in Build and Zero Build, with Duos or Squads of four. Both unranked and Ranked options were announced. Ranked Getaway was described as the mode’s first Ranked LTM.

Epic did not quantify the rank bonus, so the announcement supports only the qualitative description “large.”
Other Battle Royale changes in v34.10
Outlaw Midas and LAWLESS rewards
Owners of the LAWLESS Battle Pass could unlock Outlaw Midas after earning 10 Account Levels. Further account-level goals unlocked themed cosmetics and Styles. Epic also announced a community quest involving Fletcher Kane’s resources; completing it awarded basic Outlaw faction membership and an upgradable Outlaw Keycard for access to Black Market backrooms.

The update added Lawless variants of several weapons. The Outlaw Shotgun and Rocket Drill could also drop from Chests outside Black Markets. The Pump & Dump combined a Shotgun and an SMG in a single weapon slot.

Ranked Siphon
Siphon returned to Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build for the rest of the LAWLESS season. Epic specified 75 Health restored over five seconds for each elimination. Siphon was not enabled in Ranked OG, Reload or Getaway.

Epic’s announcement said The Getaway was available until April 1, 2025, Eastern Time. Outlaw Midas’s associated account-level goals could be completed until the LAWLESS season ended on May 2, 2025, Eastern Time. These are the announced 2025 deadlines; they do not establish whether the mode or rewards are available now.
Separate Creative and UEFN changes
Epic’s March 11, 2025 ecosystem release notes covered creator-facing updates, separate from The Getaway’s Battle Royale rules:
- UEFN experience content began downloading for all lobby players before matchmaking, rather than after they connected to the server. Epic said the change was intended to help players enter islands faster, particularly on slower internet connections or mobile devices.
- Creator Portal made Accolades and Analytics device activation data visible to team members with analytics access.
- LEGO spring Prefabs and Galleries and Seaport Prefabs and Galleries were added.
- The Bank Vault, Capture Area and Capture Item Spawner devices received changes.
These ecosystem notes concern creating and entering experiences; they do not change the announced Jewel, van, team or Ranked rules of Battle Royale’s The Getaway.
