The Brink Bionics Impulse Neuro-Controller was designed to send a PC mouse-click signal from muscle activity detected in the hand, before the mouse’s mechanical switch clicks. New Atlas reported in January 2021 that Brink claimed this could register a click up to 80 milliseconds sooner; that figure was a company claim, not an independently verified result.
How the Impulse Neuro-Controller was meant to work
New Atlas described the Impulse as a fingerless neoprene glove worn on the mousing hand. Four myoelectric sensors sit above the dorsal interossei muscles on the back of the hand—one sensor over each muscle. These muscles are involved in finger movement.
The idea is to detect the electrical signal associated with a muscle contracting just before the finger moves. Impulse software processes that signal and sends a mouse-click signal to the gaming computer, rather than waiting for a conventional mouse’s mechanical switch to activate. This is an alternative click trigger, not a faster mechanical switch inside the mouse.
What the 80-millisecond claim means
In its January 7, 2021 report, New Atlas reported that Brink Bionics claimed the Impulse could register clicks up to 80 milliseconds sooner than systems relying on a mechanical mouse click. The article does not provide an independent test method, measured results, or conditions for that maximum. It should therefore be read as the company’s stated potential advantage—not proof that players would consistently gain 80 milliseconds in actual games.

Compatibility and click handling
The report says the glove can distinguish left and right clicks, works regardless of the mouse’s make or model, and is PC-only. It does not specify operating-system requirements, setup steps, supported games, or how the device handles calibration and accidental signals. Those details cannot be inferred from the reported compatibility claims.
What was reported about price and availability
New Atlas described the product as an Indiegogo In Demand offer in January 2021. The article listed a historical pledge price of CAD$177 (about US$139) and a planned retail price of CAD$215 (US$169). These are figures from that 2021 report, not current prices or evidence that the glove is now available. The report also described production conditionally; it does not establish present retail stock, an active Amazon listing, or a current sales channel.

How to assess the concept
The Impulse’s distinctive proposition was to trigger a click from a pre-movement muscle signal rather than from the mouse’s switch. Whether that translates into a meaningful in-game response-time advantage depends on performance evidence the cited report does not provide. The available account establishes how Brink said the system was intended to work and what compatibility it claimed, but not independently measured gameplay results.
