The NYT Games leaderboard lets you compare daily results with people you add as friends in the Games app. It covers Wordle, Connections, Spelling Bee and The Mini Crossword, but each game uses its own measure. It is a private friends list—not a public ranking of all players.
What NYT Games announced in May 2025
The New York Times Company announced its multi-game leaderboard on May 1, 2025. The launch covered Wordle, Connections, Spelling Bee and The Mini Crossword, extending the score sharing players already did in group chats and on social media. The company said the feature would roll out across devices over the following weeks; that was the launch plan, not a guarantee of availability on every device today. The May 1, 2025 announcement quoted Games head Jonathan Knight describing the goal as helping solvers “connect, celebrate and play together.”
Where to find the leaderboard
Current NYT Games Help Center guidance places leaderboards in the NYT Games app, under the Friends tab. It lists The Mini, Spelling Bee, Wordle and Connections there; the documentation does not describe leaderboard access on the website. NYT’s app help page says you can add up to 100 friends, counting yourself. Only people you have added appear on your list.
The Google Play listing also promotes following friends’ daily scores for these four games, which supports the feature’s presence in the app. Store listings can differ by geography and app version, so that listing should not be read as proof that the feature is available in every storefront or on every device. What the leaderboard compares in each game
There is no single score unit shared across the games. NYT’s help guidance describes these game-specific comparisons:
| Game | What friends compare |
|---|---|
| The Mini Crossword | Completion time |
| Spelling Bee | Status |
| Wordle | Number of guesses |
| Connections | Number of matches |
That means a “daily win” is a way to describe sharing and comparing results, not a new uniform prize or scoring system. What counts as a strong result depends on the game’s own metric.
Is there a global NYT Games leaderboard?
No. The current Help Center says there are no global leaderboards. The documented feature compares results among people you have added; it does not establish a public ranking across all NYT Games players. If you want to see a friend’s results, they need to be on your friends list.

The May 2025 announcement described the initial launch as available to registered users and subscribers after downloading the NYT Games app. That statement concerns the rollout at launch. The current Help Center describes where leaderboards appear and how the friends list works, but does not set out current subscription eligibility rules. Check the app and its current account guidance for access in your region and version.
