Open your inventory with TAB on a keyboard, or click the backpack icon at the top-left of the screen. Select the cosmetic you want, then follow the placement prompts shown in the game.
How to place a cosmetic in Grow a Garden
- Open your inventory: Press TAB on a keyboard, or click the backpack icon at the top-left of the screen. See the inventory reference.
- Find the cosmetic: Open the cosmetics category and select the item you want to use.
- Place it: Follow the current on-screen prompts to position and confirm the item. A placement guide also describes starting from the inventory icon. Exact controls for confirming, rotating, or aligning an item are not established across platforms, so use the prompts shown in your game.
What cosmetic items are
Cosmetics are virtual objects used to decorate your garden plot. They are chiefly for creative and decorative use, although a small subset may have gameplay-related behavior; do not assume a cosmetic grants an advantage. The community-maintained cosmetics reference describes their uses and acquisition categories.
Where to get cosmetics
Listed acquisition routes include the Cosmetics Shop, crates, events, season-pass content, pets, codes, achievements, weather, and merchants. These are categories, not a guarantee that a particular item is currently obtainable. Shops rotate, and some items are tied to specific events or periods, so check current in-game availability.
What to check if you cannot place one
Having a cosmetic in storage and having room to place it on your plot are separate matters. Community references describe capacity limits and upgrades, but reported figures can conflict or change with updates. Check the current in-game message or shop display for the limit that applies to your account rather than relying on an older number. If the placement controls are unclear, follow the on-screen prompts; the available guidance does not establish universal button inputs for every platform.
