New players must request access on the game’s Steam page, wait for Steam’s approval, then install it from their Steam Library. Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft Account are required.
March of Giants Pioneer Playtest schedule
| Item | Officially stated detail |
|---|---|
| Opening time | 10 a.m. EDT, October 7, 2026 |
| Scheduled closing date | October 18, 2026 |
| Platform | PC through Steam |
| Required services | Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft Account |
This is a future schedule as of October 3, 2026, not confirmation that the test has already opened. Ubisoft says invitations are intended to remain available while the test runs, but access requests can be paused temporarily if servers need to be scaled for capacity.
One Ubisoft Montréal article describes the test as October 7–18 in one section and October 7–19 in another. The dedicated Pioneer announcement gives October 18 as the end date, so that is the date to use unless Ubisoft publishes a correction.
How new players request access on Steam
- Open the March of Giants page in the Steam client or Steam website.
- Find the Pioneer Playtest panel and select Request Access.
- Wait for Steam to grant access. Steam should provide a notification when your account is admitted; approval is not necessarily immediate.
- After access is granted, open your Steam Library and download the playtest build from the March of Giants listing.
- Install and sign in to Ubisoft Connect with the Ubisoft Account you intend to use for the test.
If the Request Access control is unavailable, Ubisoft may have paused invitations while it adjusts server capacity. Trying again later is the appropriate next step; repeatedly reinstalling Steam will not bypass an invitation pause.

Returning Closed Alpha players
Players who took part in the September 2025 Closed Alpha are included automatically. They should not expect a new Steam invitation notification. When the test opens, they can download it from their Steam Library. Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft Account are still required.
Who can participate?
The announcement does not describe worldwide availability. Ubisoft lists the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ukraine, Norway, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and supported European countries, with servers in North America and those supported European countries. The listed test languages are English, French, German and Spanish. Eligibility, server coverage and invitation availability can change, so players outside the named regions should verify the current announcement before planning around the test.

What March of Giants is testing
March of Giants is a free-to-play 4v4 MOBA. Ubisoft’s recent vision update describes expanded Soldier roles, more Battleworks interaction and counterplay, greater importance for the spaces between lanes, expanded itemization, additional Giants, and revisions to the map, interface, visuals, animations and gameplay clarity. Those changes explain why the Pioneer test is focused on live competitive play rather than a simple preview build.
