Add a church logo in OBS by adding a transparent image as a source in each scene where it should appear, then connect OBS to YouTube with the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. This puts the logo into the video itself—not into a channel watermark setting—and lets you check its placement in the program preview before the service.
Prepare a logo image
Use a transparent-background image if available. Transparency lets the sermon remain visible around the logo instead of placing it inside an opaque rectangle. The OBS walkthrough cited below does not establish a universal pixel size, file-size limit, or required format, so choose an image that looks clear at your output resolution and confirm it in the preview.
If your current logo has a solid background, prepare a transparent version before adding it. No particular design or conversion service is required.
Add the logo in OBS
- Open OBS and select the scene that should display the logo.
- In the Sources list, select the plus control and choose Image. Give the source a recognizable name, such as “Church logo.”
- Browse to the logo image and confirm. If necessary, adjust or crop it using the image source’s controls.
- In the scene preview, resize and position the logo. Keep it visible without covering the preacher, lyrics, scripture, or other important content.
- Repeat for every scene that needs the logo. Different scenes can use different image sources, so check each scene you plan to use.
OBS labels and screen layouts can change between versions, but the general workflow is to add an Image source to the scene and position it in the preview. This is an encoder-side overlay; it is not a YouTube Studio channel-watermark step. The OBS walkthrough describes the Image-source approach.

Connect OBS to YouTube
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the stream you intend to use.
- Copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings.
- Start the encoder. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview to appear in YouTube Studio, check the picture and logo, then select Go live.
YouTube’s encoder guidance says to enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key into the encoder to start streaming. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it publicly. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
Check the logo before the service
- Switch through the scenes you expect to use and confirm the logo appears in each one.
- Check that it remains legible at the actual output size and does not obscure faces, lyrics, scripture, or other essential text.
- Confirm the YouTube preview shows the intended composition before you start the public broadcast.
Choose between OBS and a hardware encoder

Plan for a continuous stream separately from the logo
A logo overlay only changes the video composition; it does not make an encoder, computer, or network run indefinitely. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive guidance is not a maximum-duration statement or a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 broadcasting. For a genuinely continuous channel, plan encoder uptime, network reliability, stream restarts, and how you want to handle archives. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
