For example, if your channel URL is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC123456, the membership link is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC123456/join. Use your real channel URL, not the example. YouTube says this link opens the channel’s membership window. YouTube’s membership promotion instructions recommend adding it to places such as video descriptions.
How to add the link to your stream
- Make sure memberships are set up. Channel memberships must be enabled and your membership offer created before you promote it. See YouTube’s membership setup guidance.
- Build your channel’s Join URL. Copy your channel’s canonical URL and append
/jointo the end. YouTube documents this pattern as a direct link to the membership window: https://www.youtube.com/channel/{channel_id}/join. Replace the example’s channel ID with your own, or append/jointo your actual channel URL. - Edit the stream’s video description. In YouTube Studio, open the live stream’s video details and add the full Join URL to the description. YouTube specifically lists video descriptions as a place to promote memberships. For a continuing stream, this is a persistent place viewers can find the link on the watch page.
- Save and check the viewer-facing page. Open the stream’s watch page and confirm that the description displays the complete URL. This is a practical check; it does not require a special 24/7 setting.
Where to put the link—and what not to assume
YouTube’s membership guidance describes a channel-level /join URL and ordinary video-description placement; it does not specify a separate link format or setting for 24/7 streams. A chat message can be an additional signpost, but do not rely on a chat link as the only route or assume it stays visible for the life of a continuous stream.
Link support varies by live format. YouTube’s feature table lists clickable links in chat and the channel description for horizontal live streams, but not for vertical live feeds; memberships are supported for both. Put the Join URL in the video description rather than promising that a chat or channel-description link will be clickable for every viewer and format. If a viewer cannot see the Join button
The button may be unavailable because memberships are not enabled on the channel, the viewer is in a region where the offer is unavailable, the video is Made for Kids, the viewer’s platform does not show Join yet, or the watch page is ineligible. YouTube gives certain videos with music partner claims as an example of watch-page limitations. Offer the direct /join link and the channel homepage as alternate ways to find the membership offer; these routes may still be affected by eligibility or regional availability.
