To add an overlay in Streamlabs Mobile, open or create a scene, then choose Layers → Add Layers and select the image, widget, text, or other element you want. For a coordinated design, apply a premade theme from the app’s Themes section instead. Arrange the result in landscape, check how it looks on the 16:9 stream canvas, and save the scene.
Choose between a theme and individual layers

Add individual overlays to a scene
- Open Scenes. Open the app menu and choose Scenes.
- Create or open a scene. To start fresh, create a scene, give it a name, and select a premade or custom scene option. Otherwise, open the scene you want to edit.
- Open the layer controls. Tap Layers in the upper-right area, then tap Add Layers.
- Choose what to add. Available choices can include themes, guests, cameras, widgets, Streamlabs graphics, custom items, and stream labels. A custom item can be an image from your phone, a website link, or custom text. Widgets can include an Alert Box or Chat Box.
- Arrange the element. Use the landscape editor to drag and resize the layer. Use the Layers list to manage the elements in the scene.
- Save and check the scene. Review the preview and save the layout. If the app prompts you to repeat the arrangement for landscape, follow that prompt.
Apply a premade theme
- Open the app menu and tap Themes.
- Browse the mobile theme library and choose a theme.
- Select the scene to which the theme should apply. Review the preview if one is offered.
- Tap Continue, then Apply.
- Inspect the scene afterward. A theme can change the layout; drag, resize, or rearrange layers as needed, then save.
Theme access is described by Streamlabs as available to Ultra users or through app rewards, so check the current options in your app rather than assuming a subscription is the only route. Streamlabs’ Ultra product page listed a starting price of $15.75/month when reviewed on October 3, 2026; pricing can change, so confirm the current offer on the product page.
Design for the stream canvas
Streamlabs’ editor documentation says platforms require a 16:9 stream output and that widgets can only be edited in landscape mode. If you hold the phone in portrait, editor mode switches to landscape so you can place items on the intended output canvas rather than in the black side bars. Save the layout and complete the separate landscape arrangement if the app asks.
Screen sharing differs by platform
The editor guide identifies screen sharing as an iOS layer. A newer Streamlabs guide describes Android screen capture while broadcasting the camera at the same time. Because the documented options differ and app features or labels can change, check what is available in the version installed on your device before planning a scene around screen sharing.

Fix common overlay problems
- You cannot find the editor controls: Open a scene first, then look for Layers in the upper-right area and tap Add Layers.
- The overlay is misplaced or cropped: Edit in landscape and place it within the 16:9 output canvas, not the portrait-mode black side bars.
- Your scene changed after applying a theme: Themes may change the scene layout. Reopen Layers, reposition or resize elements, and save the adjusted scene.
- A theme is unavailable: Check whether it is accessible through the current Ultra offer or app rewards; access can vary and should be verified in the app.
- A screen-share option is missing: Screen-sharing availability is documented differently for iOS and Android. Check your installed app’s available layers and current Streamlabs guidance.
