Streamlabs Mobile’s official guides do not document a way to add a prerecorded video file as a scene source. They describe streaming from the phone’s camera or screen, along with scene elements such as widgets and images. If a recorded clip must appear as a direct input in your YouTube broadcast, use a computer-based streaming setup and confirm that your installed Streamlabs Desktop version offers a suitable video or media source.
Can you play a video from your camera roll in Streamlabs Mobile?
Streamlabs’ documented Mobile workflow does not show a local-video source for playing a prerecorded file in a live scene. Its scene guide lists themes, guests, cameras, widgets, Streamlabs graphics, custom items, screen sharing on iOS, and stream labels. The guide describes a custom item as an image from the phone, a website link, or custom text—not a video file. See Streamlabs’ scene guide and its Mobile streaming guide.
This is a limit of the documented workflow, not proof that every app build or phone behaves identically. Screen sharing can show what is on your display, but Streamlabs’ guides do not describe playing a camera-roll file this way as a reliable or supported video-playback workflow. Don’t depend on it for a planned broadcast without verifying the result in a private test.
What to use when the prerecorded clip must be on stream
Use a computer-based scene with a video-file source
A computer streaming workflow is the appropriate direction to investigate when you need the recording itself as an input. Streamlabs describes Desktop as offering broader customization than its mobile camera and screen workflows, but the documentation cited here does not establish the precise current Desktop steps for adding a video file. Before scheduling your broadcast, open the source menu in your installed Desktop version and confirm that it offers a media or video-file source suitable for your clip. Add and test the file in a private or unlisted broadcast first; check that playback, audio, and scene transitions behave as you expect.

For YouTube event setup, Streamlabs Mobile’s guide documents a flow in which you choose YouTube, proceed through the go-live dialog, then create an event, schedule one, or select an active event. Use Android LAN streaming only for a live phone feed
If you want to keep the phone as a camera or screen source while operating the broadcast from a computer, Streamlabs documents Mobile LAN Streaming for Android. The phone and computer must share the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network; the guide says the feature does not work over the phone’s cellular connection. In Desktop, add a Media Source and enter the stream URL provided by the LAN workflow. Start a YouTube stream from Streamlabs Mobile
If you are streaming gameplay from the phone screen or presenting with its camera, the documented Mobile flow can still be useful even though it does not list a prerecorded-file source. Streamlabs describes camera and screen-capture controls, scene customization, and YouTube event selection.
- Check YouTube eligibility first. Streamlabs says first-time livestream setup may require phone verification and an initial activation wait. Eligibility details can change, so check the current YouTube account interface before planning a stream.
- Choose YouTube in Streamlabs Mobile. Continue through the app’s go-live flow and create an event, schedule one, or select an active event if those options are available for your account.
- Set up the scene for a camera or screen stream. Streamlabs documents camera and screen-capture choices, plus scene elements such as themes, widgets, graphics, and custom images or text. These scene options do not establish prerecorded video playback.
- Review audio and capture settings. The Mobile guide covers video, audio, camera, and screen-capture controls. Check the preview and confirm the intended source and sound before going live.
- Test the whole broadcast. Verify that the selected source appears correctly, audio is audible, and the event is the one you intend to use. If the broadcast needs an inserted recorded clip, switch to a computer setup and verify its file-source options rather than improvising a phone playback workaround.
