Start by noting PRISM Live Studio’s exact notification and error code, then check on another device whether YouTube still shows the broadcast as live. A stream that never connects, one that drops after starting, dropped frames while it remains live, and a broadcast ended by YouTube point to different causes. Change one setting at a time where practical; none of the fixes below is guaranteed.
First, identify what is disconnecting
- Write down the full PRISM message and code, if shown. The key desktop messages include “Disconnected from server” (57995) and “Failed to connect to the server” (57998). A network-related frame-drop notice may say “Your network connection is unstable. The bitrate will decrease according to your current network conditions.”
- Open the YouTube broadcast from a separate device or browser. Check whether it is still live, ended, or never started. PRISM recommends this check because an app may remain open even when the platform or device has stopped the broadcast.
- Note whether the issue occurs before connection, shortly after going live, or alongside a frame-drop notification. Then follow the matching desktop or mobile branch below.
PRISM’s help pages do not state a publication year for the error definitions or settings below. The figures are PRISM-published guidance, not independent performance measurements, and no universal upload-speed threshold is established for desktop error 57995.
Desktop: fix “Disconnected from server” (error 57995)
PRISM identifies 57995 as a desktop YouTube RTMP case in which a live stream stops and the app reports “Disconnected from server.” Its listed possible causes include local network instability, insufficient upload speed, weak Wi-Fi, and firewall or security-software interference. Start with connection stability before changing encoding settings. PRISM’s error 57995 guide recommends wired LAN rather than Wi-Fi for consistent transmission.
Test the connection
- If you are on Wi-Fi and can connect the computer to Ethernet, try a wired connection. First use a cable and port you already have or can borrow; an adapter may be needed if the computer lacks an Ethernet jack.
- Check whether other devices or large uploads, downloads, backups, or downloads are competing for the connection. Pause nonessential heavy activity for a test stream.
- If the problem persists, compare behavior on another network if one is safely and practically available. This can help distinguish a local network issue from a PRISM or platform issue.
Check firewall and security-software interference
Review your firewall, antivirus, or managed-network settings for PRISM-related blocks. Prefer allowing the app through the relevant firewall or asking your network administrator for help. PRISM suggests temporarily disabling antivirus or firewalls as a diagnostic test, but do so only briefly if necessary, restore protection immediately, and do not continue streaming with security disabled. See PRISM’s 57995 troubleshooting steps.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Desktop: match frame drops to the actual bottleneck
A stream can remain live while frames drop. Follow the wording of PRISM’s notice rather than treating every frame-drop warning as a disconnect.
| PRISM notice or symptom | What it points to | Tests to try |
|---|---|---|
| Network connection is unstable | Network conditions or transmission stability | Try Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, reduce competing network traffic, and lower bitrate if the connection is under strain. |
| Slow rendering | Computer load or the number and complexity of sources | Close unnecessary programs, simplify the scene or reduce sources, and test 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS. |
| Poor encoding | Encoder, FPS, bitrate, or CPU/GPU constraints | Try a lower FPS or bitrate. If needed, test another available encoder; PRISM says encoder choices depend on graphics hardware and recommends keeping the default unless a change is needed. |
PRISM’s desktop performance guidance says higher resolution, bitrate, and FPS can strain both the computer and network, while numerous sources or scenes can increase CPU/GPU load. Test a lower resolution, bitrate, or FPS one at a time so you can tell which change helps. In the desktop interface documented by PRISM, streaming bitrate and encoder are under Settings > Output > Advanced > Streaming, while resolution and FPS are under Settings > Video. Labels or locations may differ in your installed version. PRISM desktop performance guide · PRISM frame-drop guide.

Desktop: use error 57998 guidance only when it fits
Error 57998, “Failed to connect to the server,” describes a failure to connect, not necessarily a stream that connected and later dropped. PRISM’s IPv4-only and network-optimization instructions are specifically aimed at reported network-transition issues in India and Indonesia; they are not a universal fix for YouTube disconnections.
If you are in India or Indonesia and see 57998, PRISM’s documented test is Settings > Advanced > Network: set IP Family to IPv4 Only, enable network optimizations, apply the change, then restart PRISM. The option may not help outside the conditions PRISM describes. PRISM’s error 57998 guide.

PRISM Live Studio mobile: check connection, adaptive bitrate, and limits
Keep mobile troubleshooting separate from desktop encoder settings. PRISM says its mobile streaming error appears when the connection between its RTMP engine and the receiving platform server is lost for more than 10 minutes. Possible causes include unstable or insufficient bandwidth, an invalid or nonexistent RTMP address, a connection problem between the app and platform, or limits on the account’s streaming permissions. PRISM mobile streaming-not-working guide.
- Check the phone’s network stability. If practical, test a more reliable Wi-Fi or mobile connection and avoid competing large transfers.
- Lower the stream resolution and restore the Adaptive setting if you previously disabled it. PRISM describes adaptive bitrate as adjusting bitrate and FPS to current live network conditions; the trade-off can be reduced image quality for improved stability.
- If you entered a custom RTMP URL or key, check the address and platform connection settings for errors. Do not share a stream key; treat it like a password and replace it if it has been exposed.
- Check whether the platform account is permitted to stream and whether YouTube still shows the broadcast as live from another device.
PRISM’s FAQ gives these general bitrate recommendations by resolution: 360p, 1–2 Mbps; 720p, 2–4 Mbps; and 1080p, 4–6 Mbps. It also recommends 30 FPS for normal live broadcasts and a 1–2 second keyframe interval. These are PRISM recommendations, not YouTube requirements; the FAQ does not specify desktop YouTube for each value. Lower settings may improve stability, at the cost of picture detail or motion smoothness. PRISM FAQ.

For mobile streaming with Adaptive off, PRISM’s mobile performance guide gives illustrative bandwidth ranges for generated chunks: 1080p, 0.1–4 Mbps or 0.1–6 Mbps; 720p, 0.1–2.5 Mbps or 0.1–4 Mbps; 480p, 0.1–2.0 Mbps; and 360p, 0.1–1.5 Mbps. It says the mobile network should exceed the relevant capacity and suggests at least twice the stated bandwidth for high-quality live streaming. These are the guide’s examples, not a general measured threshold for every device or network. PRISM mobile performance guide.

If YouTube no longer shows the stream as live, do not assume the app’s connection is the only cause.
