You can also install the current Roblox – Windows app through the Microsoft Store.

Before you install Roblox
Check that your PC meets Roblox’s current basic Windows requirements:
- Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Graphics: DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support.
- Memory: Roblox recommends at least 1 GB of RAM on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Storage: Approximately 300 MB of free space for the installation.
- Internet: Roblox recommends at least 4–8 Mb/s for a single-use household. A busier household may need more bandwidth.
- Browser: The Roblox website supports Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge on Windows.
To check your Windows version, open Settings > System > About and look under Windows specifications and System type. If the PC is running 32-bit Windows, Linux, or an unsupported operating-system configuration, do not rely on unofficial Roblox installers or compatibility tools; Roblox’s published PC requirements do not list Linux as supported.

Method 1: Add Roblox through the website
This is usually the easiest route for a first-time user because the installation begins from the experience you want to play.
- Open Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.
- Go to Roblox.com.
- Sign in to your Roblox account. If you do not have one, choose the option to create an account.
- Open any Roblox experience.
- Click the green Play button.
- When Roblox asks to download or install Roblox Player, allow the installation to proceed.
- Return to the experience page and click Play again if the experience does not start automatically.
- If the browser asks which application should open the
roblox-playerlink, select Roblox and confirm your choice.
After the player is installed, future launches normally start when you click Play on an experience page. Your progress, friends, Robux, and inventory are associated with your Roblox account rather than with the particular PC installation.
Method 2: Install the Roblox – Windows app from Microsoft Store
Windows also has a current Roblox app distributed through the Microsoft Store. The name matters: search for Roblox – Windows, not just the older app named Roblox. Roblox identifies the newer app by its name and blue icon.

- Search for Roblox – Windows.
- Choose the current app with that name and the blue icon. Check the listing carefully so you do not install the older Roblox Store app by mistake.
- Select Install or Get, depending on the label shown by Microsoft Store.
- When installation finishes, launch the app from the Store or the Start menu.
- Sign in with your normal Roblox account.
Roblox says the new Microsoft Store app may ask you to link your Roblox account with an Xbox account as a one-time Microsoft Store-related step. That does not mean an Xbox console is required, and it is not a general requirement for every Roblox installation; it applies to this Store setup flow.

If the new app works and the old Roblox app is still installed, you can uninstall the old one from Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Removing the old app helps avoid launching the wrong version and may recover some storage space.
How to launch Roblox after installation
- Website installation: Sign in at Roblox.com, open an experience, and select Play.
- Microsoft Store installation: Open Roblox – Windows from the Start menu, sign in, and select an experience.
Use the same Roblox account you normally use. Installing Roblox on a new PC does not create a separate inventory or reset your account data.
Roblox Player and Roblox Studio are different
Roblox Player is the application used to play Roblox experiences. Roblox Studio is a separate creation tool for building and publishing experiences. You do not need Roblox Studio to play Roblox, and installing Studio is not part of the normal player setup.
If you want to create games rather than only play them, install Studio using Roblox’s separate creator documentation. Studio has its own setup instructions and is supported on Windows and Mac.

What to do if Roblox will not install or launch
Work through these steps in order. Stop when Roblox starts working.
1. Restart the PC and retry the official installation
Restart Windows, open Roblox.com or Microsoft Store again, and repeat the relevant installation method. A restart can clear a pending installer, locked file, or temporary Store problem.
2. Check the requirements
Confirm that Windows is 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, that the PC has DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support, and that there is enough free storage. If the PC is below Roblox’s published requirements, changing browsers or repeatedly downloading the installer is unlikely to solve the underlying problem.
3. Reinstall Roblox
If Roblox was partly installed or its files were damaged, uninstall Roblox from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, restart the PC, and install it again from Roblox.com or the Microsoft Store. Reinstalling can replace deleted or corrupted files.

Browser temporary files, firewall rules, and security software can interfere with installation or with the player starting. If security software blocks Roblox, review its notification and allow only the legitimate Roblox application downloaded through the official route. Do not disable protection permanently and do not approve an unrelated executable.
4. Check the browser handoff
If clicking Play does nothing after installation, look for a browser permission prompt or a prompt asking which application should open the roblox-player link. Choose Roblox and confirm. You can also try another supported browser—Chrome, Firefox, or Edge—to determine whether the problem is limited to the original browser.
5. Treat hardware and driver problems separately
If Roblox installs but a display, mouse, keyboard, or other device is malfunctioning, first check the device manufacturer’s driver-support page and Windows Update. An outdated or damaged driver can affect a peripheral or display, but not every Roblox installation problem is a driver problem.

Install Roblox through Roblox.com or the Microsoft Store. Avoid cracked copies, unofficial launchers, “free Robux” downloads, random executable files, and websites that ask for your Roblox password. These downloads can contain malware or steal account credentials, and none is needed to add Roblox to a PC.

Do you need a Roblox gift card to install it?
No. A Roblox gift card is optional and is not an installation key. Roblox’s gift-card information describes credits that can be redeemed toward Robux or Roblox Premium, subject to the card’s country, availability, and redemption terms. Install the app first; only consider a gift card afterward if you intentionally want account credit.
What about streaming Roblox?
