The same sequence works on a self-hosted Windows dedicated server and on most managed game-server panels. The difference is where you install Workshop items, edit launch parameters, and access the server’s Keys and profiles directories.

What ZomBerry requires
ZomBerry Admin Tools does not run by itself. It requires Community Framework (CF), so both mods must be installed and loaded together. The Workshop item IDs identified for this setup are:

You need a DayZ server installation that you can stop and start, access to its launch parameters, and permission to write to the server root, Keys directory, and profiles directory. On a self-hosted installation, this normally means Windows access to the machine running the dedicated server. On a managed server, the provider must expose equivalent controls through its panel, file manager, or FTP.

Install ZomBerry on a self-hosted dedicated server
1. Subscribe to both Workshop items
In Steam, subscribe to Community Framework and ZomBerry Admin Tools using the item IDs above. Start the DayZ Launcher once after subscribing. This lets Steam download or update the client copies and initialize the Workshop content before you transfer it to the dedicated server.
2. Copy the two mod folders
Locate the Workshop content directory used by your DayZ client and find the folders named @CF and @ZomBerry Admin Tools. Copy both folders; do not cut or move them. Keeping the client copies intact allows Steam to update them and gives you a clean source for future server updates.

Paste the copied folders into the DayZ server root, normally the directory named DayZServer. After copying, the server root should contain both mod directories at the same level as the server executable and its existing folders.
3. Enable both mods in the launch command
Add the following parameter to the command or panel field that starts the dedicated server:
-mod=@CF;@ZomBerry Admin Tools;
The semicolon separates mod folders, and the order shown loads CF before ZomBerry. If your startup method already has other mods, append these entries to the same -mod value rather than creating conflicting duplicate parameters. Keep the folder names exactly as they appear in the server root, including the leading @, spaces, and capitalization.

4. Install the signing keys
DayZ servers verify signed Workshop content through key files. Copy the following files from the mod folders into the server root’s Keys directory:

Copy the files rather than deleting the originals from the mod folders. The names must remain unchanged. A missing or misplaced key can prevent clients from joining or produce signature-verification errors even when the mod folders and launch parameter are correct.
5. Start the server once
Launch the server with both mods enabled and allow it to finish startup. The first run creates the ZomBerry files and establishes the profile location the mod will use. Do not edit admins.cfg before this run; the directory may not exist yet.
If your startup command uses a profiles argument, note its value. The profiles directory is generated when the server is started with a parameter in this form:
-profiles=<path>
The exact path depends on your server command. Use the path actually supplied to the running server instead of assuming that profiles are beside the executable.

6. Add administrator Steam64 IDs
Stop the server after the first successful launch, then open:
<ServerProfilesFolder>ZomBerryadmins.cfg
Put one administrator’s Steam64 UID, also called a BIGUID in some DayZ tooling, on each line. Use the numeric 64-bit Steam identifier, not a display name, character name, account URL, or shorter Steam ID format. For example, the file should be a plain list with no commas, labels, or brackets:

7656119YYYYYYYYYYReplace the example values with the real IDs. Save the file and restart the server. Authorization is read at startup, so changing the file while the server is running will not reliably grant access until a restart has completed.
Finding and validating the profiles path
The placeholder <ServerProfilesFolder> means the directory selected by your server’s profiles configuration. It is not necessarily the Windows user profile and is not necessarily the same directory as DayZServer. Read the startup command or batch file and find the value following -profiles=. Then look for the ZomBerry subdirectory beneath that location.
- If the server was started without a profiles argument, add one in the startup configuration, restart, and inspect the resulting directory structure.
- If several server instances share a machine, give each instance a distinct profiles path so that their ZomBerry configuration files do not overlap.
- When a panel offers separate fields for configuration and profiles, use the panel’s documented profiles field and verify the resulting path through its file manager.
ZomBerry’s installation mode can check whether admins.cfg exists, report the path it expects, create the file in the proper location, and attempt to insert the authenticated administrator identity ID. That assistance does not remove the need to verify the actual profiles path or restart the server.

Install ZomBerry on a hosted DayZ server
Managed providers use different control panels, but the workflow is the same. You need three controls: a Workshop installer or mod browser, a way to enable the installed mods in the server command, and file access to the profile directory.
- Open the provider’s Workshop installer and add item
1559212036for CF and item1582756848for ZomBerry Admin Tools. - Use the panel’s mod toggle, command-line manager, or startup-parameter editor to enable both mods. The resulting mod list must include
@CFbefore@ZomBerry Admin Tools, equivalent to-mod=@CF;@ZomBerry Admin Tools;. - Install or update the mods through the panel, then start the server once. This first launch generates the ZomBerry directory and configuration files.
- Open the provider’s file manager or connect by FTP. Find the profiles directory selected by the server’s
-profilessetting, then openZomBerryadmins.cfg. - Enter one Steam64 UID per line, save the file, and restart the server from the panel.
Some panels download Workshop content into provider-managed locations and do not expose the mod folders themselves. That is acceptable as long as the panel reports successful installation, enables the mods in the startup command, and provides access to the generated profiles files. If the provider does not expose Keys or profiles access, ask whether its Workshop installer copies signing keys automatically and whether administrators can be added through a control-panel field.

Use Bohemia Interactive’s server manager for maintenance
Bohemia Interactive documents Server_manager.ps1 as a utility that can download SteamCMD, DayZ server data, and Workshop mod data. It can also run the DayZ server with selected launch parameters and start or stop the server using chosen launch-parameter files.
For a self-hosted installation, this can centralize repetitive maintenance: update the dedicated server, update Workshop content, select the launch-parameter file containing CF and ZomBerry, and then start the server. Keep a backup of your working parameter file and verify that the mod folders and key files still exist after each update. A mod update can change files without changing your intended -mod list, so check both the folder names and the keys before bringing players back online.
Verify the installation before inviting players
- Both folders exist: The server root contains
@CFand@ZomBerry Admin Tools. - The launch list is correct: The startup configuration includes
-mod=@CF;@ZomBerry Admin Tools;or the equivalent combined list, with CF first. - Keys are present:
KeysJacobMango.bikeyandKeysVaker.bikeyexist in the server root. - The first run completed: The server has been started with both mods enabled at least once.
- The profile path is known: You can identify the directory supplied to
-profiles=. - The configuration is in the right place: The file is exactly
ZomBerryadmins.cfgbeneath that profiles directory. - UID formatting is clean: Each line contains one Steam64 UID with no extra text or punctuation.
- A restart followed the edit: The server was stopped and started after saving
admins.cfg.
Troubleshoot common failures
The server starts but ZomBerry does not appear
Check the spelling and capitalization of both mod folders and compare them with the entries in -mod. Confirm that the folders are in the server root rather than nested inside another directory. The dependency must be loaded in the same startup configuration; adding only ZomBerry is insufficient.

Players receive a signature or key error
Stop the server and inspect the root Keys directory. It must contain JacobMango.bikey from CF and Vaker.bikey from ZomBerry. Copy fresh versions from the installed mod folders if either file is absent. Do not rename the files, place them inside a mod’s private subdirectory, or leave them only in the client Workshop directory.

Work through these checks in order:
- Read the server startup settings and identify the actual
-profilespath. - Within that directory, confirm the path is
ZomBerryadmins.cfg, not a similarly named folder or a file beside the profiles directory. - Confirm that every entry is a numeric Steam64 UID/BIGUID on its own line.
- Save the file through the panel or FTP client and verify that the upload completed.
- Restart the DayZ server and test again.
The ZomBerry directory or admins.cfg is missing
Start the server once with both mods enabled. The initial run generates the necessary files. If they still do not appear, check that the account running the server can write to the profiles directory and that the panel is exposing the same profiles path used by the launch command. A server started with a different parameter file can create configuration in a different location.
The server loads, but an administrator still cannot use the tools
Verify that the UID belongs to the account being used to join the server, rather than another household or organization account. Remove spaces or labels from the line, save the file again, and perform a full restart. If the problem persists, use ZomBerry’s installation-mode path report to confirm which file the running server is reading.
An update breaks the installation
Compare the updated mod folders with the launch list and check whether the signing keys were replaced or removed. Re-copy the current key files, confirm that CF and ZomBerry are compatible with the installed DayZ version, and restart. Keep a known-good copy of the launch parameters and admins.cfg so you can restore configuration after an update.
Version and compatibility considerations
The project README describes ZomBerry as being in an early testing stage and asks users to report issues with the game version included. The repository source snapshot defines g_zbryVer = 0.6.4. That value is a version identifier in the source snapshot, not a guarantee that the current Workshop build has the same version.

Before deployment, compare the Workshop listing, the version of DayZ running on the server, and the version used by connected clients. When reporting a failure, include the DayZ game version as requested by the project. Treat a successful installation on one game build as evidence for that build only; a DayZ update or Workshop revision can require a fresh compatibility check.
Security and administration practices
- Give access only to people whose Steam64 IDs you can verify.
- Keep
admins.cfgoutside public download directories and do not post it in community screenshots or logs. - Remove an administrator’s line promptly when that person no longer needs access.
- Back up the file before changing the mod set or moving the server to a new host.
- Restrict write access to the server root,
Keys, and profiles directories to the accounts that operate the server.
With CF and ZomBerry installed together, both keys in the server Keys directory, a completed first launch, and a correctly populated admins.cfg under the active profiles path, the mod is ready for administrator testing. Any later change to Workshop files, launch parameters, profiles location, or the DayZ build should be followed by the same verification checks.
