To adopt a dog in Heartopia, first reach D.G. Member Level 12, speak to Mrs. Joan at the Pet Store, unlock Cat Caring and complete the cat introduction. Then return to Joan to unlock Dog Caring and choose from the dogs currently listed for adoption. The exact level, ticket requirement and fee can vary or be worded differently in-game, so follow the quest prompt and adoption screen.
How to unlock dog adoption
- Reach D.G. Member Level 12. Third-party guides place the pet-care unlock at Level 12 of the D.G. Member or Guild progression. The in-game quest prompt is the best check if your progression labels differ.
- Speak with Mrs. Joan. Visit the Pet Store or adoption center in town and talk to Joan when the pet-care quest becomes available.
- Unlock Cat Caring first. The guides say this requires a Hobby Expansion Ticket. Adopt a cat and complete its introductory care step.
- Return to Mrs. Joan and unlock Dog Caring. The reported progression requires finishing the cat step first. One guide says Dog Caring uses a second Hobby Expansion Ticket; check Joan’s prompt for the requirement shown in your game.
Choose a dog from the current listing
Guides report that the adoption listing offers three dogs at a time and rotates daily. Review the dogs currently shown in the adoption interface and select one from that listing. If the dog you want is not available, wait for the reported daily refresh and check again; the available guides do not establish a way to select an absent dog on demand.

Check the adoption fee in-game
One third-party guide reports a 500G adoption fee, but that amount is not corroborated by the other guides. Treat it as unverified: check the current fee on the in-game adoption screen before confirming.

What to do if Dog Caring is still locked
- Confirm that you have reached the reported Level 12 progression milestone.
- Check that Cat Caring is unlocked and the cat introduction step is complete.
- Talk to Mrs. Joan again and read the current quest prompt, including whether it asks for another Hobby Expansion Ticket.
