Sending a server link alone does not grant permission.
Allow friends through the private server settings

Open Roblox and go to the experience that has the private server.

Scroll to Servers and find your private server.

Open the server’s three-dot menu and select Configure.

Choose the access option that fits: allow friends, or add specific players by username. Roblox’s support guidance allows up to 50 individually listed users.

Save the change if the page prompts you to, then share the server link if you want. The interface wording may vary by device or account version; Roblox describes the path as Servers > server menu > Configure. See Roblox’s Private Servers FAQ.

A private-server link can make it easier to find or share the server, but it does not replace the server owner’s access settings or a joiner’s privacy permissions. Roblox explains private servers in its Creator Hub documentation.
Fix “You do not have permission to join this game” (Error Code 524)
Check permission settings on both accounts. Roblox’s Error Code 524 troubleshooting guide recommends that the owner add the player to Server Members or enable Friends Allowed, and that the joining player review their private-server privacy preference.

On the friend’s account

Open Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Visibility & private servers > Private servers.

Review who is allowed to add the account as a member of a private server, and adjust it if needed.

Roblox says users under 13 can only join private servers created by their friends. A linked parent account may also control the child’s setting; Roblox’s parent instructions are at Managing Privacy and Chat Settings.

For a child account managed by a parent
From the linked parent account, open Settings > Parental Controls > [child] > Settings you manage > Visibility & private servers > Private Servers, then choose Friends or Off as appropriate. The available choice can depend on the child’s account settings.
If permissions look correct

Wait briefly and try again in case the server is temporarily unavailable.

Restart Roblox and the device, then check the internet connection.

If the problem persists, update the app; reinstalling is a later step rather than the first fix.
What private-server access settings do—and do not do

The experience creator must enable private servers before players can create one. See Roblox Creator Hub: Private Servers.

A server may be free or have a Robux price set by the experience creator. Roblox says a paid server is charged initially and renews monthly; the owner can cancel before renewal. Payment is not required for every private server. Details are in the Private Servers FAQ.

Roblox says changing private-server access preferences applies to existing and future private servers. Changing access restrictions does not change the server’s price or subscription renewal.

Roblox Party is a separate way for friends to group up and enter games; it does not override a private server’s access list. Roblox states that a Party can include up to six users, with some features depending on age, trusted-friend status, and region. See Roblox Party.
