Sign in with the Battle.net account that received the penalty when you access support.
Identify the penalty before appealing
Blizzard distinguishes an Overwatch account silence from an account suspension or ban. Read the notice and match its wording to the appropriate support article rather than treating every restriction as a chat ban.

- Silence: Use Blizzard’s Overwatch account silence appeal guidance.
- Suspension or ban: Use Blizzard’s Overwatch account suspension or ban appeal guidance.
- General account-action guidance: Blizzard also provides general guidance for appealing a silence, suspension, or ban.
These support pages identify the relevant appeal topics, but their accessible listings do not establish a complete current form flow. Use the instructions shown by Blizzard after signing in; do not rely on a presumed button sequence or form field.
How to submit a clear appeal
- Open the penalty notice and record whether Blizzard calls the action a silence, suspension, or ban.
- Sign in to Blizzard Support using the Battle.net account that received the action.
- Open the corresponding Overwatch appeal article above and follow the current instructions displayed for your account.
- Explain briefly and factually which action you are appealing and why you believe it should be reviewed. This is practical advice, not a stated Blizzard form requirement.
- Keep the exchange civil. Blizzard’s support policy says repeated appeals and duplicate tickets about an issue already addressed are unproductive; offensive language or threats toward support staff may result in account penalties. See Blizzard’s support policy.
What a silence means—and what it does not tell you
Blizzard’s Overwatch silence guidance says there is no maximum silence duration and that a silence may lead to an account suspension or closure. It does not establish one universal duration or a guaranteed result for an individual account. The same guidance says multiple abusive-chat reports from a single player do not stack; reports from unique players are counted. That statement does not reveal a report threshold or a guaranteed penalty formula. See Blizzard’s Overwatch silence information.

Make sure the restriction is actually chat-related
If the notice concerns competitive play or leaving matches, rather than chat, use the relevant Overwatch support topic instead of the silence route. Blizzard lists separate guidance for competitive-play penalties and leaver penalties. The penalty named in the notice is the best guide to which topic applies.
