To rotate prerecorded videos on a 24/7 YouTube stream, send a looping file or playlist through a live encoder. You can run that encoder locally with OBS, or use cloud playout so your own computer and home internet connection do not have to stay on. Before starting, verify your YouTube channel is eligible and make sure you have the rights to every video and audio track.
What “video rotation” means on YouTube Live
A rotating stream is not a normal YouTube upload or playlist. An encoder continuously sends a live video feed to YouTube; the encoder can repeat one file or move through a playlist. YouTube lists encoder streaming as a supported way to go live. Its current guidance says a channel must be verified, have had no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person live streaming must be at least 16. Check your account’s Live Control Room for its current status and setup: YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and setup.
YouTube’s help page describes general platform requirements, not a separate India-specific rule for continuous streams. This guide does not establish Indian legal requirements for copyright, privacy, tax, or telecom use; consult current Indian government or legal sources for those questions.
Choose where the stream will run
| Approach | What you need to keep available | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Local encoder, such as OBS | Your computer, video files, power, and a stable internet connection | More local control and no cloud-pl playback service requirement, but a local power, computer, or connection failure can stop the feed. |
| Cloud playout | Your uploaded files and a cloud service connected to your YouTube stream | Your home computer and uplink need not stay on, but you depend on the service’s plan, storage, controls, and recovery behavior. |
Cloud services advertise different playlist, scheduling, resolution, duration, and recovery features. Check those details and how the service accesses your YouTube account before choosing. Vendor descriptions are not independent uptime tests, and neither approach guarantees an uninterrupted stream. For a workflow overview, see Callaba’s 24/7 YouTube streaming guide.

Set up continuous rotation locally with OBS
This method uses your own computer as the encoder. OBS’s current media-source controls are documented in its Media Sources guide. Labels and layout can change between OBS versions, so refer to that guide if a control is in a different place.
- Clear eligibility and prepare your media. Confirm the channel can go live in YouTube Studio and prepare video files you own or are authorized to broadcast. Keep the files accessible on the computer that will run OBS.
- Create or configure a live stream in YouTube Studio. Open the channel’s Live Control Room, create or select the stream, and choose the encoder option. Copy the stream key from the live-stream setup. Treat it as a password: do not share it or publish it.
- Add the video source in OBS. Add a Media Source and select the file you want to play. Enable the source’s loop or repeat behavior if you want that one file to play continuously. To rotate multiple files, create a playlist using the available OBS source controls or a playlist-capable workflow, then check how it advances and repeats before going live.
- Check video and audio playback. Preview the scene, confirm the video is visible and correctly framed, and listen for audio. Verify that the transition or repeat behavior does not leave an unintended blank interval or silence. The exact behavior depends on the source and playlist setup.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube if offered, and enter or connect the stream key using OBS’s available connection method. Confirm the selected channel and stream match the Live Control Room setup.
- Start the encoder and verify the live feed. Start streaming in OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream status before relying on the broadcast. Keep OBS running, the computer powered, the media available, and the internet connection stable for the entire time you want the stream live.
- Monitor and recover. Arrange a way to notice if OBS, the computer, power, or internet connection fails. If the feed stops, check OBS and the local connection, then reconnect the encoder in accordance with the Live Control Room status.
Keeping a local setup running
A local setup relies on more than OBS: it also relies on the machine, power, stored files, and upload connection. A dedicated computer such as a mini PC for OBS streaming is an optional way to keep a local encoder available, not a requirement or a tested recommendation. Cloud playout avoids buying or leaving a dedicated local computer running, but adds a service dependency.

Rights and interruptions: check before going live
YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can lead to a placeholder, warning, interruption, or termination. If you have a license for third-party material, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent a live interruption. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- Use only footage, music, images, and embedded material that you own or have permission to broadcast.
- Keep permission and license records accessible, and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting when applicable.
- Do not assume that content being available online, or having a license document, prevents YouTube’s live systems from interrupting a stream.
- Maintain a way to notice a failed feed; cloud hosting shifts local dependencies but does not remove the need to check the YouTube stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos and playlists as a live stream. The setup is: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo streams the uploaded files as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. The same features are included on every plan; only the billing period changes. Monthly: $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo for plan details, then start your free first day.

Choosing a setup for an India-based channel
If you want hands-on control and already have a computer that can run for long periods, local OBS rotation avoids a cloud-playout subscription, but your machine, power, and connection remain part of the broadcast. If you do not want those devices and your home uplink to be operational dependencies, compare cloud options by their actual playlist controls, storage, stream duration, resolution, recovery behavior, account access, and price. For an India-facing example, GoLiveIndia’s Ultra Live page displayed a ₹1,071/month plan when checked on October 3, 2026, listing 24/7 loop streaming, unlimited live duration, 1080p, playlist and schedule support, and six stored videos. Its displayed free tier lists a one-hour maximum duration, so that tier is not a 24/7 plan. Prices and features can change; verify the current page before subscribing. These are vendor claims, not independent reliability findings.
For other services, confirm availability and supported destinations before paying. For example, LiveGoLive’s YouTube service page describes its offering, but availability should be checked with the provider.

Common problems and practical fixes
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: Check verification, recent live-stream restrictions, age eligibility, and the Live Control Room status against YouTube’s current requirements.
- The stream appears offline or has no video: Confirm OBS is sending to the correct YouTube stream and that the selected scene contains the intended media source. Check the Live Control Room preview rather than relying only on OBS’s local preview.
- The video plays once and stops: Recheck the media source’s loop setting or playlist repeat behavior in OBS, then test playback before starting the broadcast.
- The stream stops after a local outage: Check computer power, OBS status, media-file availability, and internet access; reconnect the encoder and confirm the feed returns in the Live Control Room.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast: Review Studio notifications and the stream status for a rights match. Confirm permissions and, where licensed Content ID material is involved, ask the rights owner about allowlisting.
- A cloud plan does not fit the planned stream: Recheck its current storage, resolution, maximum duration, playlist-editing, scheduling, and recovery terms. Do not infer continuous duration or uptime from a feature name alone.
