What you need before banning anyone
A FiveM server ban is an administrative action, not the same thing as removing somebody from the current session. Before opening txAdmin, confirm that you can identify the correct player and that your admin account is allowed to ban.

- txAdmin access: You need access to the panel for the server you administer.
- Permission: The account needs
players.ban, described in the txAdmin permissions reference as “Ban/Unban a player.” Without it, the ban control may be unavailable or the action may be rejected. - A reliable identity: txAdmin needs at least one stored identifier, such as a Steam ID, Discord ID, FiveM license, or in-game identifier. A display name by itself is not a dependable identity.
- A documented reason: Write a specific reason that another administrator can understand later. Avoid insults, speculation, or private information.
Numeric in-game IDs are session numbers. They can be assigned to a different person after the original player leaves, so never approve a permanent ban from a number alone. Check the stored identifiers and the surrounding player record first.

Ban a connected player in txAdmin
This is the quickest route when the player is currently on the server. The menu names below are the labels reported for the txAdmin panel; labels can change between releases, so check the current panel and the citizenfx/txAdmin documentation if your installation presents a different layout.
- Open txAdmin for the correct FiveM server and sign in with an account that has
players.ban. - Select Live Console in the left sidebar.
- Locate the connected player in the live player list. If several names are similar, use the player details and identifiers rather than guessing from the name.
- Click the player’s name to open the player actions.
- Choose Ban Player.
- Complete the form: enter the duration or other fields the panel requests and provide a clear reason. Review the selected player before confirming.
- Submit the ban and wait for txAdmin to confirm the action. Keep the resulting ban information in your staff log if your team maintains one.
The player is removed from the immediate session as part of the administrative action, but the important part is the identifier record txAdmin saves. On a later connection attempt, the blocked player is shown the Ban Reason, Ban Date, Banned by, and Ban ID. Make the reason accurate because it becomes part of that user-facing result.
Check the target before confirming
A busy server can contain players with similar names or changing character names. Open the player details and compare every identifier txAdmin has available with your moderation evidence. If your evidence identifies a Discord account or FiveM license, use that information to distinguish the correct record. Do not treat the temporary numeric ID as proof of identity.

When a live ban is urgent
If the player is actively exploiting or harassing others, preserve the minimum evidence your moderation policy requires before acting: the time, player name, session ID, relevant chat or event details, and the reason for the sanction. Do not delay an urgent safety action merely to collect information that is not needed for your policy, but do not ban an unrelated player because two names look alike.
Ban an offline player from the Players page
txAdmin can ban and warn a player even when that player is no longer connected. This is useful when staff review a report after the session has ended or when a player disconnected before an administrator could act.

- Open Players in txAdmin.
- Search the player list by Name, Notes, or Player IDs. Use the narrowest search that matches your evidence.
- Open the matching player record. Confirm the stored identifiers and review existing notes before taking action.
- Select the ban action and complete the reason and any duration fields shown by your panel.
- Confirm the ban. Record the ban ID and your evidence according to your server’s moderation process.
Offline moderation is deliberately separate from kicking. The Players page supports banning and warning an offline player; kicking only applies to someone who is connected. If the person is already gone, ban the identified record instead of trying to issue a kick to a stale session number.
What a txAdmin ban actually matches
The scope of a txAdmin ban is the set of identifiers stored for that player record. Depending on what the server has received and retained, that can include a Steam ID, Discord ID, FiveM license, or in-game ID. At least one such identifier is required for a ban.

Because the ban is applied to every identifier txAdmin has stored for the record, the result is broader than a name-based block. It also means that an incomplete record can limit what txAdmin can match. Do not claim that a ban covers an identifier that was never present in the record.
Permission problems and access checks
The Ban Player option is missing
First verify that you are signed in to the intended server and not viewing a read-only or lower-privilege account. Then ask an administrator who manages txAdmin permissions to grant the players.ban permission. The permission is specifically for banning and unbanning players; having access to the console or the player list does not automatically prove that your account can perform both actions.
The panel rejects the action
Recheck the selected record, your session, and the required fields in the form. If the player disconnected while you were working from Live Console, find the record again under Players and perform the offline workflow. If the account still cannot submit the action, have a higher-privilege administrator verify the permission assignment and the server’s txAdmin state rather than attempting an unverified console command.

How to verify that the ban took effect
Use the player record and the ban information returned by txAdmin as your first confirmation. The blocked player’s next connection attempt should present the ban reason, date, banning administrator, and ban ID. A player who can reconnect may be using a different account or may not match any identifier stored on the original record; that is a reason to review the identifiers and evidence, not to ban a random new name.

- Save the Ban ID with the case or staff log.
- Check that the reason is specific enough for another administrator to interpret.
- Compare any attempted re-entry with stored identifiers, not just the visible name.
Do not use a successful kick as proof that a permanent ban exists. A kick affects the current connection; a ban is the identifier-based restriction that is evaluated on a later connection.
How to unban a player
The documented material available for this procedure is less certain than the ban workflow. A third-party txAdmin guide describes revoking a ban by opening History, finding the relevant entry, and clicking Unban. That route should be treated as a panel-version-dependent instruction rather than a guaranteed label for every installation.
- Open the txAdmin history or ban-history view available in your panel.
- Find the entry using the player identity, Ban ID, date, or administrator details.
- Confirm that you have the
players.banpermission, which covers ban and unban actions. - Use the panel’s Unban control if it is present, and verify that the entry changes state.
- Document who approved the reversal and why, especially if your server uses an appeal process.
If your build does not show an Unban control, do not guess at a database edit or undocumented command. Check the current txAdmin documentation for that version or ask the administrator who maintains the panel. An unverified edit can remove the wrong record or leave the ban state inconsistent.
Console-only options: what works and what does not
FXServer does not ship with a universal built-in ban command. The often-seen in-game commands /ban and /unban come from custom administration scripts in some server setups; they are not evidence that txAdmin or FXServer itself provides those commands. Before telling staff to use one, identify the resource that registered it and read that resource’s documentation.

Kicking from the console
The rconlog resource provides a console-only kick path using the server’s status output and the clientkick <id> <reason> command:
- Run
statusin the server console to list connected players and their current numeric IDs. - Identify the correct connected session while the status output is current.
- Run
clientkick <id> <reason>, replacing<id>with the current session ID and<reason>with a concise explanation.
This is a kick, not a persistent ban. It is appropriate when you need to remove someone immediately and your panel is unavailable, but it does not create the identifier-based ban record described above.
Why a console kick can target the wrong person
Numeric IDs are transient. If a player leaves between status and clientkick, the number can disappear or later belong to someone else. Re-run status immediately before the command, and use the panel when you need an auditable ban tied to stored identifiers.
Choosing the right action

Common mistakes and their fixes
Assuming /ban is built in
There is no universal FXServer ban command. A command that works on one server may be supplied by a custom resource and absent on another. Find the resource that owns the command before relying on it.

A name can change and can be shared. Search the Players page, inspect the stored identifiers, and tie the action to the evidence for the specific account.

Using a stale numeric ID
Session IDs can be reused. Refresh the Live Console or status output and verify the player details immediately before an action.
Trying to kick an offline player
A kick requires a connected session. Use the Players page to ban or warn an offline record instead.
Writing an unusable reason
“Rule break” does not tell the player or another administrator what happened. State the rule or behavior, the relevant context, and any duration your policy requires. Do not include information that should remain private.
Assuming every identifier is present
txAdmin can only apply the ban to identifiers it has stored, and at least one is required. Review the record and describe the scope accurately in your staff notes.
Moderation records and automation hooks
A consistent record makes appeals and staff handovers safer. At minimum, retain the Ban ID, player record, reason, date, administrator, and the evidence that supports the decision, subject to your privacy and retention rules. Keep the record separate from informal chat so another administrator can audit it.
For server tooling, the official txAdmin events documentation lists a playerBanned event that is broadcast when a player is banned through txAdmin. Developers can use that event to trigger an internal log, moderation notification, or other workflow. The event does not replace the permission check or the panel’s ban process, and its exact payload should be verified against the documentation for the txAdmin version you run.
A safe operating checklist
- Confirm the server and your admin account.
- Verify
players.banbefore beginning. - Decide whether the person is connected or offline.
- Use Live Console for a connected player, or Players for an offline record.
- Match stored identifiers; never rely on a reused numeric ID or name alone.
- Enter a factual, policy-based reason.
- Confirm the action and save the Ban ID.
- Use the panel’s history and documented Unban control for reversals; avoid guessed commands or database edits.
- Use
clientkickonly when you need a console kick, and remember that it is not a ban.
Bottom line
For a durable FiveM server ban, txAdmin is the dependable path: use Live Console for a connected player or Players for an offline one, and make sure your account has players.ban. Verify stored identifiers before confirming, because names and numeric session IDs are not stable identities. FXServer’s console can remove a current connection with clientkick, but a persistent ban requires the txAdmin ban workflow or a separately verified custom administration resource.
