Guide descriptions report two phases, including aerial, grab, and smash attacks, followed by chaos damage, flame breath, and area smashes. Treat that as a scouting list, not a complete move set: exact dodge timings and stagger thresholds are not established here.
What to expect in the Hismar fight
Hismar is boss 14 in PowerPyx’s 16-boss guide sequence. That guide’s boss footage was recorded on Normal difficulty without Spirits of Advocacy, so it is useful context rather than a guarantee that every setting or game version behaves identically.

How to approach each opening
Watch the animation before attacking
Prioritize recognizing what Hismar is doing over maintaining constant damage. Commit only when you can identify a safe opening, and favor the recovery after a committed attack rather than trying to force hits during its sequence.

Pressure the head when positioning allows
The video-guide description emphasizes head-focused stamina damage. Use that as a target when you can reach the head without taking an avoidable hit; it does not establish a guaranteed stagger threshold or a required number of attacks.
Adjust your response to the phase
For the first phase, be ready for hand and leg attacks, smashes, aerial moves, and a grab. The descriptions flag chaos damage, flame breath, and area smashes later in the fight. Give yourself room to read the animation and avoid committing through an attack you have not identified.
Choose a weapon style that suits your defense
PowerPyx describes three weapon archetypes. Its preference for spear is guide-author judgment, not a verified Hismar-specific requirement; choose based on how you prefer to defend and attack.

These are broad play-style distinctions, not a measured Hismar weapon comparison. You do not need to switch weapons solely because a guide prefers spear.

The game’s general combat systems make stamina damage and enemy exhaustion relevant across boss fights. Brutal Attack skills can also interact with spirit or health recovery. Use opportunities to build pressure, but do not assume a particular exhaustion point or Brutal Attack is mandatory for Hismar.

If you are still learning a pattern, avoid using every recovery option as soon as your health drops. First identify the next safe window, then heal when you can do so without walking into an attack.
What not to rely on
The available guide descriptions do not verify frame-perfect dodge timing, exact combo counts, a guaranteed stagger threshold, or patch-specific changes to Hismar’s attacks. If a tactic depends on one of those details, treat it as unconfirmed rather than a universal rule.
