Before you enter the fight
This guide covers Josée the Blind Hero, encountered at Josée’s Outpost in the Present era—not the separate Hero Josée identity. The fight opens after you defeat the Metagen Remnant and return from the Sunken City’s past. PC Gamer’s guide says it is possible to challenge her as soon as the cocoon opens, but you may be underleveled; it gives no recommended level or equipment score. If you are struggling, prepare further rather than treating a particular level as mandatory. PC Gamer’s Josée boss guide outlines the encounter, while the community wiki entry identifies the location and era.

- Equip or carry De-Snares. Bind is the fight’s central hazard: it can leave you trapped in the path of follow-up attacks.
- Consider bringing a companion while learning the timings. The PC Gamer guide says a companion can draw pressure and revive you after lethal damage, then needs time to return.
- Fire infusion is a supported damage option. PC Gamer recommends it, and the community wiki lists Fire as a weakness.
Phase one: learn the tells and punish recovery
Golden projectile orbs
When Josée pulls an arm back and her hand begins to glow, expect the orbs. Sidestep during the windup instead of waiting for them to reach you. Once the projectiles have passed, move back in; avoid attacking while they are still homing toward you.
Sword driven into the ground
If she raises her katana and drives it into the ground, sprint out of the large area blast. It inflicts Bind, so do not stay close trying to squeeze in a hit. Once you are clear, use the lull to heal if you need to.

Charge and downward stab
Creating too much distance can prompt Josée to rush in with a downward stab. Roll behind her as she closes, then take a few hits during the long recovery. This is a useful opening, but do not turn it into a long combo that leaves you exposed when she recovers.
Wide and delayed katana swings
Her broad slashes cover space around her. Dodging through the swing can keep you close enough to punish, but watch her rather than attacking as soon as your first dodge ends: she can delay a slash and catch you if you commit too early. Let the full sequence finish before counterattacking.

Sheathed-sword slash
Watch for a flash from the sword just before she unsheathes. Dodge immediately after the flash; that is the safer response. A parry can turn the move into an opening, but mistiming it is costly, so use that option only if you are comfortable with the timing.
Phase two: avoid overlapping Bind threats
A cutscene marks the transition. Josée becomes more aggressive, throwing golden orbs more often and in larger groups, sometimes alongside other attacks. Keep moving and wait for the homing projectiles to clear before you attack. If you are using a companion, take extra care when they are down: the guide advises playing more cautiously and reserving healing for that window.

Stomp before the sheathed slash
In phase two, Josée can stomp to create a Bind area beneath you before the sheathed-sword slash. Watch her foot and roll out of the hazard first; then react to the sword flash with a dodge, or a parry if you have practiced it. Do not focus so narrowly on the sword that the stomp catches you.
Three downward stabs
When she raises her sword overhead, be ready for a sequence of three downward stabs. Dodge through the sequence and wait until it ends before punishing. Attacking between stabs risks trading hits or being caught by the next strike.

Separate Bind stomp
She can also stomp to create a large Bind area without the preceding sheathed slash. The guide describes this as harder to react to, so avoid overcommitting to attacks and keep an eye on her feet. Prioritize getting clear over trying to finish a combo.

PC Gamer recommends fire infusion and suggests stun as ways to improve damage or disrupt Josée. The community wiki lists Fire as a weakness, but also lists Stun among her immunities. Because those accounts conflict, do not rely on stun without confirming its effect in your current game version. The wiki additionally lists Blood resistance and immunity to Stone, Snare, and Stall; treat those details as community-maintained rather than definitive. Neither source establishes a required level, damage threshold, or guaranteed build.

Choosing between aggression and safety

Victory is also tied to progression: PC Gamer reports a new Blood Code and a Fading Bond, with further story progress needed for the item that lets you return to Josée’s time. The community wiki says defeating the Blind Hero unlocks the Free Exploration Era and makes the Bloodreaver Blade purchasable as a formae at Jadwiga’s MagMell shop. These reward details come from separate secondary sources, so check your current game version for the exact unlock state.
